Nicole Frail Books ✨Super Small Indie Press✨
Imprints
&You Press | Attic Ebooks | InkBridge Books Let’s just say, I have ideas. Very… POV driven. WE are doing it.

Hi, hello, my name is Nicole Frail, and you may know me from the twelve years I spent at Skyhorse Publishing and Sky Pony Press. Or you may know me from the ten years I’ve been editing for indie authors and querying authors and other clients via my small editorial business Nicole Frail Edits. And now, I’d like you to also think of me as the publisher of a (very super small) independent press. I in

tend to introduce multiple imprints under the Nicole Frail Books umbrella: one for nonfiction, one for kids (because half of my heart belongs to children’s books), one for moms (because I’m a mom of three boys and I KNOW the struggle involved with trying to find just one second of free time for yourself, and to write a whole book in those moments… C’mon. I’d bow to you but my back hurts from carrying around my thirty-pound two-year-old). And all of them are very community driven. I just have to figure out a few things before I can officially make it all happen. We're roughly six months in now, and we started with a few anthologies, and those have been amazing. We introduced some new voices to readers. We’ve walk some debut authors through the editorial and publishing process. WE as in, the community of amazing writers that I have stumbled into in the two-ish years that I’ve been more active online (thank you, bookstagram!). You are all talented, you are all driven, you are all impressive. And whether you want to pursue traditional publishing, you want a bit of hand-holding with hybrid, or you want to stick to the indie route, I want to support you. So follow me here, message me on Nicole Frail Edits, DM me on Facebook. I’m wherever you need me to be. So submit your manuscripts to And You Press, Attic Ebooks, or InkBridge Books, and let’s keep on doing it!

SUMMARY

Dating was survival of the fittest for Marie—until a disastrous blind date ended in a car accident. As she recovers post-surgery, she wonders if it’s the lingering effects of the anesthetic or something more when she hears the voice of a stranger singing along with her behind the curtain in the post-op room. Their brief, strange moment ends as he’s wheeled away—but not before he mentions he’s a chef at Dockside.

Thanks to her friend Janey’s careful orchestrations, Marie soon discovers the man behind the curtain’s name is Jack, and he is, indeed, the Dockside chef. Through texts, she discovers he’s eager to get to know her, but Marie has sworn off first dates—too many heartbreaks and pain, and a broken leg to prove it. Jack hatches a plan to never go on a first date with her at all.

Could undating Jack become the relationship Marie has always wanted, or will he be just another fish in the sea?

A variation of this story originally appeared in Recipes for Romance, published by in January 2025. This ebook expands on that story, inviting the reader to see what Marie and Jack got up to after their hilarious post-op meet-cute.
