Episode № 320 - Numismatists* Chip Scoppa and John Zabel are both past presidents of the Rochester Numismatic Association, and join us to talk about German-American artist, and engraver Alphonse Anton Kolb (1893–1983). He was known for creating sculptures, and other art works ranging in size from medals to statues. For many years he worked for Bastian Brothers of Rochester, New York, and was the semi-official sculptor of the Rochester Numismatic Association.
*A numismatist is a specialist, researcher, or serious collector who studies and authenticates coins, paper money, tokens, and related currency objects. Unlike casual collectors, they analyze currency for its historical, cultural, and monetary significance.
We also revisit striking mules. They can be coins or notes. Two sides that were not meant to be on the same coin (or note).
