With the namesake inspired by a Keith Richard interview, (5 Strings, 3 Chords, 2 Fingers, 1 A$$hole), 5321 Studios is about creating and mixing all forms of sounds and samples, found or made, acoustically or digitally. It is especially interested in combinational notions like a harmonica through digital effects or synthetic drums miked via analogue techniques. A “vibe” is the focus vs classificati
on or genres although the influences impact the mindset. A combination of old Wax Trax recordings, Ambient notions like Eno, 60s/70’s guitar tones, and 70’s funk pushed through a modern framework of what used to be called “dance music” is likely to heard in the Studio. Originality trumps formulaic but sometimes formulaic is fun to bob your head to. Most everything is played in the studio from old to new with little interest in how cool, how real, how hard, how commercial, how indie. Good music, while subjective, is good music, and the only thing musically more fantastic than watching someone create their craft live, is the act of creating yourself.
