Let’s eat Bakersfield! 🍽️😋We visited Camino Real Kitchen & Tequila , a local family and veteran-owned restaurant serving up Mexican-inspired dishes with a California twist. The atmosphere is warm, the food is full of flavor, and every bite feels made with love. ❤️🌮🌯We tried the empanadas la barca, taquesitos, m**o tacos, seafood fajitas, sizzling enchiladas, and the cheesy chorizo queso. The diablo shrimp with pepper jack pasta was definitely a standout, and the Pepinos Loco shots brought just the right amount of kick. To top it off, we enjoyed a refreshing fruity fresca cocktail mocktail. 🍹🔥🥘Camino Real is serving something special right here in Bakersfield — definitely a must-visit!📍4501 Stine Road, Bakersfield CA 93313👏 Big thank you to our episode sponsor

In the news: The Crystal Palace, one of Bakersfield’s most iconic venues, is closing its doors.

Built by Buck Owens and opened in 1996, the Crystal Palace was more than a music hall — it was a bar, restaurant, museum, and a tribute to the Bakersfield Sound. Over the years, it welcomed legends like Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, and Garth Brooks, and of course, Buck himself.

The Owens family foundation cited challenges from the pandemic, rising restaurant costs, and their desire to step back from management as reasons for the closure.

For many of us, this was a place to eat on a Saturday night or Sunday morning, a spot where families made memories. It’s truly sad to see such a big piece of Bakersfield’s history fade away.

Yelp just named 24th Street Cafe as one of the top-rated restaurants in Bakersfield, coming in at #10! 🎉 Whether you're stopping by for a hearty breakfast or a delicious burger, this neighborhood hangout has been serving up budget-friendly diner eats since 1987.

Originally opened as Cy's Coffee Shop in 1950, the building now known as 24th Street Cafe was established by Mark Huggs, a local third-generation restaurateur, in 1987. It's been a happy place for hungry people ever since! 😊
