Actress Halle Berry publicly criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom for twice vetoing the Menopause Care Equity Act, a bill she advocated for, arguing that his actions show he has "overlooked women".

Key Details of the Dispute
The bill, which Berry supported, aimed to expand health insurance coverage for menopause-related treatments and require physicians to receive menopause-specific training. Newsom vetoed a similar bill in 2024 and again in October 2025.

On the flip side: He signed the TGI Inclusive Care Act (effective 2023), which ensures that transgender, gender-diverse, and intersex (TGI) Californians have access to gender-affirming care under state law.

He also signed legislation to cover illegals with free healthcare in California.

BTUFF editorial: I don't know how many people invest here, but there's some interesting things going on worth looking at.

About 5 years ago, I was sitting here posting stories and one of them was Nancy Pelosi inside trading Nvidia. Basically, she knew congress was going to fund American chip manufacturers after the chip shortage and bought Nvidia before the vote. Soon as I saw the story, I dumped about 2k into it and now it's around 30k. I call it my Nancy Pelosi insider trading stock.

Some investors are saying we are in a tech bubble, but personally I feel like some of those people missed the boat and are trying to tank it to jump in.

This week, Trump met with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. One of Trump's main missions is to win the AI race against China and Russia. He's going to make sure Nvidia, who's at the core of AI, takes the US to the top. Trump has bragged about Nvidia as well, saying the US company is now the biggest company in the world. He wants to be part of that success and has the US in a position to keep Nvidia growing into the future.

The Biden administration’s AI diffusion framework, which would have placed caps on chip sales to most countries around the world, has been reversed by President Trump. Trump agreed to allow H20 sales in exchange for a 15 percent cut of the revenue.

What does that mean? I personally feel like Nvidia got an insurance policy from Trump to keep climbing in the future. The US government is basically investing in Nvidia and other tech companies.

Nvidia's stock skyrocketed 22,420% during the past 10 years, and that life-changing rally would have turned a $10,000 investment into $2.25 million. Can it keep this pace up? Who knows but there doesn't seem to be anything right now in place that would stop it. Trump is basically giving Nvidia rocket fuel, with the backing of the US gov.

If Nvidia keeps this up for another 10 years, it’s essentially a lottery ticket, except your odds are way better than anything coming out of the California Lottery office.

I'm not telling anyone what to buy, I'm not a stock expert. It's all a gamble. But I did tell my daughter to wait on a dip and if the fundamentals are anywhere close to what they are now, it's a good buy.

Has anyone been following the 50 Cent documentary on Diddy? Diddy's attorneys threatened to sue Netflix if they didn't remove it but Netflix isn't budging. It actually has a lot of in-depth information in it. There's a dark side to this a lot of people didn't realize was going on.

Letter to the editor: What are your thoughts on the Olympics in LA?

I’ve spent a lot of time in the LA area over the last few years. I work as a State Regulator and my primary job is to regulate pipelines throughout the People’s Republic of California. When the Olympics come to town, do you think that the powers to be will relocate the massive homeless population of LA to the Central Valley?

I’d love to see you use your platform to get ahead of this issue. It’s going to happen but I don’t think that our local “leadership” has the foresight to address this issue.

Answer: Just by looking at the past, I do believe Los Angeles will start transporting their homeless population out of their city. Zero chance they are going to let the France track team walk by a bunch of home homeless people when getting on their bus. The first and easiest stop into the valley is Bakersfield. Being that Gavin Newsom is no fan of Bakersfield, he's not going to be opposed to this happening. If you live in Bakersfield, I'd brace yourself for a significant increase in homeless leading up to the olympics. JMO.

This Christmas, our Bakersfield Community Leaders, through BTUFF are helping out 4 foster organizations, and over 350 foster kids and aged out foster kids. The funds go directly to the kids, so it's not used for administration costs. Programs like toy drives do a lot for the younger kids, but the teens and aged out foster kids often get left out. Hopefully this helps out in this area.

We've also have enough funding to get a head start towards next year. We hope this brings joy to a lot of kids and foster parents around Kern County.

Our group was also able to help secure funding for Night to Shine, a prom for special needs kids. Their event should have funding secured for a few years.

We also broke a record on our funding for Heroes on the Water veterans organization with our Motor City Throwdown Bass Tournament.

This is a group of good people, who care about the community.
