I switched things up and gave my locs a little extra volume using QVR Hair’s 18” Burmese Curly Human Hair Crochet Hair in P4/27! 😍

I used 4 packs because I wanted a fuller look, and I love how natural the finished style turned out. The install was beginner-friendly, lightweight, breathable, and I still have easy access to my scalp to care for my locs.

One of my favorite features? It’s reusable! I untied the knot instead of cutting it so I can install it again later. 👏🏽

I finished everything with a little mousse to define the curls, and I’m honestly obsessed with the movement and blend. 🤎

Once upon a time, I worked in a salon. When I was low on clients — and honestly, even when I wasn’t — my grandma made sure she could rock a style from her grandbaby just to promote my work.

And when that season no longer aligned with me, the same woman who didn’t like a lot of spirits in her house would let me braid out of her kitchen so I could make sure, as a single mom, I could take care of my baby.

My day-one clients know Ms. King/Ms. Margaret/Nana/Gigi would sit with us, pray with us, laugh with us, feed us, or give us advice we may or may not have wanted 😂🩷 She was the hospitality.

She also kept me awake because baby… I was in school, working two jobs, and braiding, so sometimes instead of sleepwalking, I would sleep braid 😭 The parts were always right and the braids were crisp, but once I got to braiding down the ends? I was SLEEP.

Thank you, Grandma, for always supporting me, keeping me headstrong, and teaching me the value of hard work. Love you forever. Rest up for me, doll. I’ll see you again ✨🩷
