Why is this game different than others? It has the challenge of a strategy game (such as Magic the Gathering), with the social aspect of a game like bridge or spades. It's simple format can be played by a novice but those who study the game can find many subtle nuances. It has beautiful fully painted artistry. Each sign card is a double sided representation of an astrological sign. The suit will determine which type of cards are more valuable to you as well as which cards are used to balance.
Each one has a unique set-up which will slightly alter game play.

Leo, for instance balances Aces, 3,4,5,7,8 and 10. 2,6 and 9 cards, or any suit, will be used for their card action. This makes Leo a versatile card that is heavy on exchanges that allow for manipulation of the board.

The action in TaroQuest takes place in many ways. These cards represent a card that can be used to both balance the game cloth and also alter the game. Which astrological avatar you are using will determine whether the card aids in victory or is used for it's secondary effect.
Attacks, like the 3 of Swords, will slow your opponents road to victory.
Exchanges, like the 7 of Coins, can make unique alterations to the game through exchanging cards.
Aces are versatile cards that balance the root for all avatars. They can also be used to attack, boost or interrupt if need be.
Reveal cards, like the 3 of Wands, allow you to get insight into the deck or another players hands and manipulate them.

Kings- follow the philosophy of teaching through challenge. They create adversity leading you to rise above your difficulties.
Queens- Are we not better as a community, than alone? The support of the Queen protects and strengthens.
Jacks- Act to protect the weak from damaging forces
Prodigy- The modern Page can rise above the mundane. By encouraging your strengths you can help to complete your game cloth and yourself.

TaroQuest is a fun community event that teaches tarot while playing:
The key to the game is completing yourself by finding the pieces that balance your energy centers. Being fully balanced is how we win.
Fool- It's about taking a chance. Could you risk it all and come out for the better or the worse. The journey leads somewhere new in the form of a new hand
Death- Causes you to lose something important to you and furthermore forces you to take time in the form of discarding to plot a path forward.
Judgment- Teaches there is no harmful action without consequences.
Chariot- By leaving something comfortable and foraying into the unknown we learn to forge a new path.

How is TaroQuest both similar and unique to other strategy card games?

Playing the game involves a simple process of completing your board, interacting with opponents on a turn based platform. The action that's new and engaging takes place with the action of the cards. Whether that's using the insight of the Star card to take what is yours, or using the Hanged Man to retrieve new found knowledge, many of the cards impart a unique experience.
