Happy Women Veteran’s Day 🫶🏾💐

For as proud of my service as I am, for as much as I love my battle buddies who got me through that s**t, I am bitter & hurt & full of rage for what I was forced to endure at times in the name of financial stability.

Sending so much love to all my sisters who ever stood in those boots, but so much more to those who served their country with honor & distinction only to be beaten, r***d, broken, and discarded by the men they served with.

Your service, your life was not in vain. & your stories will never be forgotten. 🖤

Do y’all like it??

I got a new banner for when I do free community events, and it came just in time for me to use it for the Black Artist Fair on June 16th from 6:00pm - 8:30pm at Shake and Bake (1601 Pennsylvania Ave in Baltimore).

I bought the banner through and used one of their templates for the design. Super easy. Now that I see what they hitting on, I’m gonna make one for my for-profit events!

We don’t do shame here.

I know some of you are new here, but the number one rule I have is we don’t shame people for the financial decisions they made to survive. To some, those decisions feel like the only rational one to make.

It’s called survival math.

Survival math makes sense to the people in those specific circumstances, but it may not make sense to others AND THAT’S THEIR BUSINESS!

I left without a plan because I needed to leave right then and there. I didn’t have time for a plan. And guess what? I survived.

Understand moving forward that I’m a lot less like Michelle Obama and a lot more like Cardi B. I’m not taking no high road here, go to hell.

I hit 4K subscribers on YouTube! 🥳

I know I know, I need to post more long-form content, but this is a big milestone for any content creator, I’ll work on that after celebrating this. 😂😂

What kinds of videos do you want to see??

• Videos breaking down how to deal with accounts in collections and charge offs?
• Vlogs of The Marvelous Misadventures of Markia to see my side quests?
• Recaps of events I host/vend at?
• Live Q&As?

Let me know what you want to see, & I got you!

My village did.

Knowing people who know people is a privilege. A privilege that helped bounce back from my rock bottom quicker with this second divorce than I did after my first. 😅

I mean, 2 days after I left I got a car. 58 days later I closed on my house. A month after that I got a job offer. During/After my first divorce, I couldn’t even get a pizza in my name my credit was so jacked up. 😂😂😂 I couldn’t find a job outside of McDonald’s. I lost my car, my apartment, and almost my mind.

This time, I was prepared.

Who in your village?

There are so many ways you can pour into my work:

• FREE SUPPORT: follow, share, tag me, and engage with my content.

• COMMUNITY SUPPORT: bring me to your church, school, organization, or city; nominate me for features, grants, and spotlights; or come to a Broke Cousins Anonymous meeting.

• FINANCIAL SUPPORT: book me for workshops, keynotes, or financial education programming; sponsor a community event; or partner with me to bring financial education into schools and organizations.

Every share, every invite, & every opportunity helps expand my work. Thank you, Cousins! 🫶🏾

Argue with ya momma.

I’m a week into this lock-in & here’s what I’ve learned so far:

• The “start your day off with a workout” gang was right. I love going to the gym or walking first thing in the morning. It feels so good & it’s usually how I get my 60 minutes of sun too.

• Working out more has increased my appetite…by a lot actually. I’ve been making healthier food choices (y’all know I got the sugar 😅) & cooking at home more. An unintended benefit, but my pockets thank me.

• Manga absolutely counts as a read. I’m well over the 30 minutes I started out giving myself.

• I’m a couple envelopes ahead in the envelope challenge! I’m not gonna slack though, the sooner I work my way through the envelopes the better.

• I looped my doctor in to my insomnia struggles & she hooked me up with something to help me sleep. It doesn’t leave me groggy when I wake up & I’m having restful sleep. 10/10 recommend talking to a doctor if you’re struggling.

• Doing all this has helped me set up a routine for myself. I still have moments where I’m flying by the seat of my pants, but there are familiar elements in my day that help keep me grounded & it’s soothing to my anxiety.

What? Like it’s hard?

All jokes aside, this is super generalized suggestions. If you need advice based on your specific situation, I mention 3 free ways to get help!

• Baltimore City: Financial Empowerment Center
• For Women: has a free financial helpline!

& I do monthly meetups called Broke Cousins Anonymous that’s super informal. It’s like a mix between an excuse to get outside & a group financial counseling session. 😂
