Bob Caudle has passed away at 95. For fans of Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling and the old Crockett territory, his voice was a fixture for decades. He opened every show with “Hello, wrestling fans” and closed it with “So long for now,” and that calm, steady style became part of what defined wrestling in the Carolinas and Virginia.
Caudle never tried to be the star. He always said the wrestlers were the ones people tuned in to see, and he carried himself that way. Whether the tapings were in Raleigh, Charlotte, or the bigger arenas Crockett moved into later on, he sounded the same. Generations of fans grew up hearing him every weekend.
His passing is another reminder of how much of that era is fading, but the impact he had on Mid-Atlantic wrestling, and on the people who watched it, is still there.
So long for now, Bob.
Remembering the longtime voice of Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling.
