Did You Know? - Alien Trilogy (1996, PS1)
Before survival horror fully exploded on the PlayStation, Alien Trilogy gave players a first-person nightmare straight out of the Alien films. Published by Acclaim and developed by Probe, it combined movie-inspired atmosphere with Doom-style shooting.
🔦 Cinematic Influence: The game loosely adapted all three Alien films, dropping players into Weyland-Yutani facilities, derelict ships, and hive-infested corridors that captured the claustrophobic tension of the movies.
🔫 Arsenal of Weapons: Fans got to wield iconic Colonial Marine gear like the pulse rifle, flamethrower, and smart gun. Each weapon felt ripped straight from James Cameron’s Aliens.
👾 Xenomorph Threats: From facehuggers scurrying across the floor to full-grown aliens charging in swarms, the game kept players on edge with unpredictable ambushes. Even eggs were hazards waiting to burst.
🎶 Atmospheric Design: The eerie soundtrack and minimal HUD created a constant sense of dread. Empty hallways often felt more terrifying than firefights.
Alien Trilogy wasn’t the flashiest FPS of its time, but it nailed the dark, suffocating feel of the franchise—making it a must-play for both Alien fans and early PlayStation shooter lovers.
