Mike Preston: Another collapse and failures in the secondary were inevitable for Ravens | COMMENTARY

The Ravens have lived on their defensive reputation for the past 20 years. On Sunday, they had the Jaguars in a vulnerable spot and couldn’t deliver. It was inevitable, columnist Mike Preston writes.

With the addition of middle linebacker Roquan Smith, the Ravens’ defense had shown significant progress, but he doesn’t play safety, and he doesn’t play cornerback — which is becoming a liability for Baltimore, columnist Mike Preston writes.

Mike Preston: With marquee quarterbacks like Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers — and their respective teams, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Green Bay Packers — slumping, the league is having a slow makeover.

When you sit back and put this wild NFL season into perspective, Baltimore fans should feel good about the Ravens because it could be worse: They could be the Browns or the Colts. Good thing they're not anymore, columnist Mike Preston writes.

Ravens rookie safety Kyle Hamilton and left tackle Ronnie Stanley’s injuries are “definitely trending in the right direction” after the two standouts left Sunday’s win over the Carolina Panthers, coach John Harbaugh said Monday.

Kyle Hamilton limped off the field in the third quarter with an apparent left knee injury, and Ronnie Stanley exited later in the period with an injury to his left ankle, which first required surgery in 2020. Neither returned to the game.
