This past Saturday I was invited to speak/facilitate at my alma mater for a women’s leadership council event…topic was, “Can Women Have it All?”

Such amazing interactive conversations were had. In summary, many agreed that everyone’s journey is different based on how each person defines it, and that how we defined it at 22 years old will likely change multiple times before the age of 50 & beyond. A few mentioned the pressure some of us put on ourselves because of this “have it all” mentality. And one brave lady said, “I don’t want it all,” which sparked a lot of interest & further dialogue.

One thing I have found from experience is that having a mentor (or more than one) is a game changer when tackling this “have it all” mentality that’s been engrained in us. Women mentoring women is great and ideal, but don’t discredit men who are also supportive of female empowerment especially in a male dominated industry.
