Tomorrow, the U.S. House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on H.R. 4, a funding package that would rescind all previously approved federal funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) in FY 2026 and FY 2027. This is a direct threat to the future of public media across the country—and we need your voice now to stop it.

Today, the House passed a procedural rule that cleared the way for tomorrow’s final vote. If passed, this bill would then move to the Senate, where it only needs 50 votes to become law.

This dangerous legislation would devastate hundreds of public media stations, especially in rural and small-town communities where public radio is often the only trusted source for local news, emergency information, arts, and culture. Entire regions risk becoming information and media deserts. The impact is real.

We are working urgently with allies to stop this bill before it gains momentum in the Senate—but we need your help before the House vote tomorrow.

The Controller is responsible for the management of all company finance and accounting operations, budget and forecasting, investment oversight, audit activities, cash flow planning, and tracking operational performance for Baltimore Public Media.

In addition, the Controller is accountable for the oversight of Financial Systems & Procedures, and Compliance and Legal requirements ensuring the management of company resources in the most beneficial way to maximize funding. The Controller serves as a credible, knowledgeable, and trusted resource to the President & General Manager, Senior Leadership Team, and the Board.
