This is a great interview with Lance and April Ledbetter from Dust to Digital about their Box Set releasing the B sides of all the 78 rpm records that Harry Smith compiled for the hugely influential 1952 release The Anthology of American Folk Music.

Music producers Lance and April Ledbetter talk about curating their new anthology, which collects the flip sides of the 78s Smith chose for his 1952 Anthology of American Folk Music.

Yo. You're quarantined. It sucks. Do you need a laugh? Try this. Recorded in November of 2017 and never released. The incredibly absurd idea of doing a puppet show on the radio. Starring Seth Adam Kallick, Naomi Kline Karzai, Morgan Hamilton, Nat Raum, Shodekeh Talifero, and me Nate Yielding. I still haven't figured out a permanent home for the show but Seth has wanted me to put this out forever.

Finally getting around to checkin out some of people's best of list for 2018. From Adam Savage's list is Russian Village Boys. I found this video to be funny, unique and endearing

Russian Village Boys - Do Like Russians! (Русские Субтитры) Клип о том чем мы живем, когда скрыты от внешней городской суеты и прочих бытовых вещей! Чтим тра...

The Chilean producer Matias Aguayo's group project Desdermonas. Also I'm thinking of making another episode soon. Whatchall think?

Matías Aguayo & The Desdemonas' new video is an animated romp through a dystopian underworld.

I know most of you probably dislike long statuses. Read below only if you are a fan of the Bitter Scenester.

Do people like the Bitter Scenester podcast? Is it worth continuing? If you haven't noticed the Bitter Scenester has been on hiatus since last summer and before that the production has slowed down considerably. This was due to significant financial difficulties leading me to acquire another job in addition to the one I already had and as a result I have very little excess time.
When I first started The Bitter Scenester I had never listened to a podcast before. Now I listen to podcasts all the time. I have come to realize that most podcasts are run by teams of people and that there is usually some compensation for their efforts. The Bitter Scenester has been run exclusively by me with some help for promotion by my friend Robbie Horowitz. We have not received any compensation for any episodes. On the contrary it actually costs a significant amount of money to run the podcast. It costs a yearly fee for the soundcloud storage, the feedity RSS feed, money to promote each status to advertise the episodes, and also my time.
This is all coming to a head right now because I have received an email from soundcloud stating that my yearly storage fee will renew on May 14th. I can not afford to pay this. I also do not want to keep a past creative project on the back burner indefinitely while it is costing me money. So that is why I am seeking your input. If The Bitter Scenester is worth saving then please comment so. If not, then please say that as well. Does the city need another voice to promote local music? It seems to me that Lydia Wooleaver, Sam Sessa, and WTMD are doing a pretty good job and it is actually their jobs to do so. If I am to continue then I will have to start a go fund me or patreon or something like it to cover my costs. Thank you for reading this and have a good day!
