Jasmine Guy with classmates at Northside Performing Arts High School in Atlanta, Georgia. Class of ‘79. All voted "Most Talented." Guy began her television career with a non-speaking role, as a dancer, in seven episodes of the 1982 television series Fame under the direction of choreographer Debbie Allen. She reunited with Debbie Allen when she took over the directing of A Different World where Jasmine played Whitley Gilbert. Today, she remains best known for her starring role as Whitley Gilbert. The show aired from 1987 to 1993 on NBC.

She then made her film debut in Spike Lee's School Daze and Eddie Murphy's Harlem Nights. She has enjoyed a diverse career in film, television and theater.

Guy and other cast members are currently on an HBCU A Different World tour to help fund scholarships.
