I read 22 books this year, and I liked most of them, but these are the ones that moved me, made me laugh the most, inspired the best conversation, ripped my heart out, made me think. All but number 5 I read in a book club, too. Maybe that has something to do it with it. I love the convo that comes with a really good read. Honorable mention: Lady Tan’s Circle of Women by Lisa See and The Office of Historical Corrections by Danielle Evans.

Even if the book said some slightly different physical characteristic, I could not help but imagine them this way. Sometimes the way a character behaves is so pervasive that I’m like this is 100% what they look like and of course that’s my own biases at work, but that sorta imagination is important

Let me be the one to send you something good. The first week of September, you will be mailed a 5x7 print of original artwork and a piece of flash fiction (no AI over here, baby).
