This week’s video looks at a winning competition recipe from years ago using both Aeropress and V60 filters. Super fun to try out and, I might actually use this recipe from time to time!

So many recipes for competition are pretty impractical IRL. While this one seems difficult on the surface (and it’s not exactly simple) after taking the time to learn it, it was pretty straight forward to use.

Enjoying single origin ristretto shots was not on my 2023 bingo chart.

19.8g in, 21g out in about 29 seconds, pressure set to 6 bar

Definitely a little one notey, but way more pleasant than I was expecting. As it cooled, acidity was just a tad overpowering, but a far cry from old school, underextracted shots.

Mouthfeel was silky smooth and, honestly, I will brew this way more often.

New video up! Getting ready to slow down a bit for the holidays but wanted to say thank you to everyone who has supported the channel. Been trying a lot of new things (and learning a ton) over the last month or two - trying to tell better stories and adding more of my personality to the videos. A little scary, but it’s been fun. Funny how painting one wall can make you feel so much more motivated.

Every time I come back to something creative after some time away I feel like I’ve subconsciously digested concepts learned, mistakes made, and worked through whatever hang ups were weighing me down (whether I realized it or not).

Anyway, excited to share more both here and on the YouTube channel this fall. It’s been a minute ☺️
