Quantization noise and aliasing are two different things. Don't say you're downsampling to 8khz to get that "12-bit crunch". Bit-crushing is cool, and aliasing is cool, but that mystical SP1200 sound is more about 26khz mixed with transposition trickery than it is by virtue of 12-bit alone. Everyone's about the bit-rate, but sample rate is just as important for grime.

Bit obsession must be inherited via 8-bit NES nostalgia.
