The J. Dan Talbott Amphitheatre was alive with the bustle of patrons, cast and crew as opening night for “The Stephen Foster Story” began. Saturday marked the beginning of the drama association’s 67th season, which has welcomed in a parade of new faces for the cast.

Taste of Bardstown continues to explore new avenues as the walking tour company takes up residences on Third Street.

Victoria and Josh Hoff, owners of Taste of Bardstown, have reinvented their small storefront on North Third Street into Bardstown Tour House. The downtown stop has become the hub of their walking tours, and it’s also become home to The Bard Distillery.

Taste of Bardstown continues to explore new avenues as the walking tour company takes up residences on Third Street.

PUBLIC NOTICE - WATER MAIN FLUSHING JUNE 16, 2026

The City of Bardstown Water Department’s annual flushing program is underway.

On Tuesday, June 16, 2026, flushing will occur in the Stephen Foster Industrial Park, Pineview and Sunset Village East subdivisions and around the Nelson County Highschool on the following Streets (Please note that all streets in these areas could be affected):

Granite Dr
KY-245 (E John Rowan)
Pennebaker Ave
Buchanan Blvd
Hayden Ave
Caney Fork
Lala Lane
Caroline Ct
Scotch Ct
Evergreen Ct
Wildcat Ln
Nelson County Highschool

During flushing, customers in these areas may experience discolored water or air in the lines. Please allow your faucet to run for a few minutes to clear any sediment particles and air bubbles that may have been trapped in your service lines.

The Bardstown Water Department would like to thank its customers for their cooperation during this maintenance program. Routine flushing is very important for maintaining quality drinking water.

Nelson County now has a third industrial park on the way.

In recent years, the Wilson Industrial Park and Nelson County Industrial Park have both filled up, leaving local government and economic development officials scrambling to find new land for prospective companies looking to set up shop here. After much searching, the City of Bardstown and Nelson County Fiscal Court are teaming up to buy 527 acres of land off of Pennebaker Avenue to meet that need.

This year local fire department raised a combine $200,000 during the annual WHAS Crusade for Children campaign.

Every year, the fire departments across Nelson County bring their communities together to raise funds for the WHAS Crusade for Children campaign. In 2026, the statewide total was more than $6.2 million, the second highest total in Crusade history. In Nelson County, the six area fire departments raised $201,948.06 together.

NCS is currently on track to complete the Thomas Nelson Middle School for the 2027-2028 school year. The transition to the combined middle and high school campus has brought out discussions about school administrators — moving away from being generalists to specialists.
