A month ago, MainSheet Arts & Entertainment Editor John Hanright set up a GoFundMe page for Remmy Waegelein, the former editor-in-chief of The Main Sheet and a former reporter for the Falmouth Enterprise newspaper.

"On the evening of Tuesday, December 19, 2017," Waegelein's car was hit by a Jeep Wrangler at the intersection of Cotuit Road, according to the GoFundMe page description, written by Hanright. No one was injured in the accident, but Waegelein's car was totaled. "The accident has dealt a big blow to [Waegelein's] finances and financial planning, to his employment prospects, and to his overall mental health," says Hanright.

Waegelein graduated Cape Cod Community College (4Cs), where he earned his Associate's of Arts Degree with a communications concentration. He also graduated as a Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honors Society inductee.

"While at 4Cs, Waegelein contributed to the The Main Sheet," says Hanright. "He worked his way from a reporter to an editor to finally . . . the editor-in-chief." Waegelein professionally engaged with reporters and his other editors. "Even with all of his achievements, Waegelein remains a modest and considerate person and a caring friend," says Hanright.

Waegelein went on to work as a reporter for The Falmouth Enterprise. While he was at the newspaper, Waegelein wrote many news and feature stories, "something at which he is very talented," says Hanright. He worked as a teacher's assistant for Kerry Drohan, his former journalism professor, who had worked for decades at the Cape Cod Times and the Boston Globe. Waegelein also tutored in the reading and writing resource center, "where he helped numerous 4Cs students," says Hanright.

"My friend has time and time again faced repeated traumas and losses which could have put a chip on his shoulder," says Hanright. "But each time that he has experienced hardship, Remmy has rebounded."

The GoFundMe link to donate is: https://www.gofundme.com/please-help-out-my-friend-remmy.

My friend Remmy is the kindest, most hardworking and resilient person that I have ever met. He is also talented, smart, and funny. Hello, Cape Cod Community College (4Cs) community and friends of The Main Sheet! Today marks nearly a month since we have launched the first ever page for The Main Sheet! This is a continuation of our ongoing digital presence, in addition to our linked official website. The staff and contributors for the newspaper are working hard to produce quality, informative, and relevant stories and artwork for each new issue. We are always looking for journalists, writers, artists, photographers, and other creative people at 4Cs to submit to the newspaper their best work. We encourage 4Cs students to share with us tips, concerns, and topical information regarding 4Cs and the campus community! Stay tuned and stay vigilant! - The MainSheet Editorial Staff
