Here’s your chance! On Saturday, October 24, 50 players will have the opportunity to challenge 2008 U.S. Chess Champion Grandmaster Yury Shulman in a special exhibition match at St. Anne Catholic Church.

The afternoon also celebrates the remarkable legacy of Zein Bertacchi, an award-winning cook, mentor, and humanitarian who spent 25 years sharing her Middle Eastern cuisine to raise funds for charity.

Enjoy homemade dishes prepared in her honor while supporting local charities and Barrington’s vibrant chess community.

Art in the Barn This Weekend! On Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., visit this 51st annual top-notch art show and festival that benefits Advocate Good Shepherd’s patients and community. So many amazing artists to support! Admission is $5 and kids under 12 get in for free (no pets please except for service animals). Enjoy this annual kick-off to fall with autumn décor and more! Duchess Manor Haunted House opens Saturday, September 19 at The Arboretum of South Barrington and runs through November 1. Guests can choose between two experiences:

Lights On Walkthrough: A kid-friendly, less-scary experience offered Saturdays and Sundays from 2–5 PM. This is a great option for younger guests and families who want to explore the haunted house with the lights on and without the full-scare elements.

Full Scare Walkthrough: The complete haunted-house experience, open Fridays and Saturdays from 7–11 PM and Sundays from 6–10 PM.

Celebrity Chef Fabio Viviani Is Coming to Downtown Barrington!

Barrington-area resident and celebrity chef Fabio Viviani is bringing two new dining concepts to Main Street.

BOCADO Tapas will open this fall at 133 Park Avenue, featuring Spanish and Mediterranean-inspired shareable plates, cocktails, w**e, and a lively neighborhood atmosphere.

And there’s more to come: Retoro, an intimate, chef-led Japanese omakase experience, is planned for early 2027.

ESO New Season! Elgin Symphony Orchestra Launches Its 77th Season 🎶

The Elgin Symphony Orchestra is ready for another remarkable season of live music! Led by Music Director Chad Goodman, the 2026–27 season features favorites by Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Dvořák, Beethoven, Gershwin and more, along with world-class guest artists and audience favorites including “Holiday Spectacular” and “Hooray for Hollywood.”

Raue Center Turns 25! Raue Center for the Arts invites the community to celebrate 25 years of Great Entertainment Close to Home at a special 25th Anniversary Open House on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 6–8 p.m.

FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, the celebration will feature behind-the-scenes tours and special announcements, offering guests a chance to explore the historic theater and spaces normally hidden from public view.

Raue Center’s anniversary carries a poignant connection to September 11. The theater’s grand reopening took place on September 11, 2001, a day that forever changed our nation. Twenty-five years later, Raue honors those who were lost while celebrating the resilience and community that have helped the theater thrive.

Since reopening, Raue Center has welcomed hundreds of thousands of guests, presented acclaimed performers, expanded arts education, supported local artists, and created countless memories throughout the region. Congratulations to Raue Center on 25 years!
