BLOOM at Deer Park Town Center celebrates and supports sustainability and community engagement, now through April 26. Events include Clothing, Textile & Shoe Collection – Now through Sunday, April 26. The center will also collect shoes for SWALCO’S Reuse-A-Shoe program (visit swalco.com for details.) Shoes that are new, gently used or worn will be accepted, including those with stains or holes. Rollerblades, ice skates, winter boots and shoes that are wet, moldy, falling apart or missing soles will not be accepted. Guests must tie pairs of shoes with laces or secure them with a rubber band or zip tie. Document Shredding Event – Friday, March 20 From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (or until the truck is full), a shredding truck will be on-site.

Visits & Photos with the Bunny – Saturday, March 28. Enjoy photo opportunities with the Bunny from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring your own camera. Reservations are required online at Deer Park Town Center.

Earth Day Tree Giveaways-Starting on April 21, guests can pick up a free tree sapling from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Center Management Office, while supplies last. publisher Lisa Stamos was recognized today at Barrington’s White House for her long-time service to the Barrington community. A founding member of the Barrington Cultural Commission since 2009, Lisa has worked tirelessly to deliver excellence in local community journalism for 21 years with the QB. Daughter Lauren Stamos joined with fellow Commissioners and Village leaders to celebrate her receiving the Karen Darch Award for Excellence in the Arts as a Cultural Ambassador.

The State of the Greater Barrington Area Economic Summit is on Wednesday, Feb. 18, . Making History! Our Jan/Feb issue celebrates Barrington resident Doug McConnell whose vision to launch the Chicago River Swim splashed worldwide with a net of three billion views in print, social, and digital media. More than 12 years in the making, this reprise of the 1927 swim required a Herculean effort to organize, secure City approvals, and conduct lab-based water testing up to the moment swimmers dove into the water. The swim also raised funds to help researchers find a cure for ALS and to teach the life-saving sport of swimming to kids in underserved neighborhoods in Chicago through .
