On Memorial Day Weekend, our Delaware Tribal Princess and Delaware Powwow Princess both looked stunning and represented our People with grace at our annual powwow. They also hosted a supper at camp, to provide a wonderful meal and fellowship. These young women make us proud!

Wanìshi to everyone who came to our Stomp Dance Benefit. We welcomed in Sophia Jerden, our 2026-2027 Delaware Tribal Princess. Congratulations to our raffle winners! We hope you all enjoyed your time with us. 🫶🏽

Sophia Jerden is the only daughter of Leslie and Shawn Jerden. Her Lenape lineage is from her mother’s side of the Falleaf and Black families. Sophia belongs to the Turtle clan and has been raised in Lenape culture and practices. She understands her role and responsibilities to family, and the importance of her female empowerment within a matrilineal Tribe. Now entering her young adult years at seventeen years and a senior in high school, she has been prepared to shift her mindset from childhood to an active cultivator and keeper of her familial culture. After graduation, Sophia plans to use a year of internship to experience hands-on work and ensure she enters a field of education that supports her goals and expects to further her education in mechanical engineering and the art of racing. Sophia is embarking on a new chapter in her life. We are so excited to not only support in her endeavors but have her represent our Tribe and People with the dignity and grace she is so clearly distinguished with.

We want to take a moment to recognize our outgoing princess, Maura Lee Johnson. During her reign, Maura stepped into this role at a young age, bravely traveling farther from her family and Tribe than ever before. While attending Haskell, she represented our Tribe with grace, courage, and strength, completing her first year of college in academic good standing. When home, she proudly represented our Tribe at community events and remained actively engaged with our people. The most meaningful moment of her reign was traveling to our homelands, where she shared that she felt a deeper connection to our ancestors and our people. We are so proud of her and thank her for representing our Tribe well!
