Three year old Paulding County Boy Battling rare Brain Cancer
Meet Bowen. He is a precious three year old with brain cancer. He has the most radiant smile and is the bravest little boy. In June of this year Bowen had been sick for three days and was not improving so his parents took him to urgent care. The doctor at urgent care was very concerned and had him rushed by ambulance to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. After running a CT scan, they found a large tumor in the right ventricle of his brain. He was taken immediately into surgery where it took over 9 hours for his neurosurgeon to remove the tumor. The tumor was sent to pathology where it was confirmed as Choroid Plexus Carcinoma (a rare type of brain cancer). This kind of cancer is only diagnosed 2-3 times a year. A week after the tumor’s removal, Bowen contracted an infection in his skull. Bowen had to have another surgery to have a baseball sized brain flap removed. Eventually they were contacted by St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN which gave them much better odds and they also have more experience with rare cancers. Bowen just completed his 4th cycle of chemotherapy and fighting to get through this unimaginable time. If you would like to follow Bowen and his journey visit his page: Brave for Bowen. They family shares picture and posts almost daily. Bowen and his family live here in Paulding County.

Holiday Package Safety Reminder

As online holiday shopping ramps up, package theft—often called “porch piracy”—continues to be a growing concern. One in four Americans, or 64 million people, has had a package stolen, and 9 million adults have experienced a theft within the last three months. Over the past year alone, porch pirates have taken an estimated $8.2 billion in stolen goods, with the average package valued at $222.

To help keep your deliveries secure this season, consider these simple preventive steps:

Protect Your Packages

Schedule deliveries for times when you know you’ll be home.

Ship to a secure pickup location, such as a package locker, workplace, or mailbox-style store.

Install security cameras if possible—visible cameras can deter thieves and provide helpful footage if something goes missing.

Building a Safer Community

Get to know your neighbors. A connected community is one of the strongest defenses against crime.

Report suspicious activity immediately to your local non-emergency line. Quick reporting helps law enforcement track patterns and prevent future thefts.

Let’s work together to ensure everyone in our neighborhood enjoys a safe and stress-free holiday season!

Pet of the Week Brittany!

We just adore this girl! Brittany is a couple years old and is spayed and has all of her vaccines. She is great with other dogs. Brittany takes a few moments to warm up to strangers, so she’s lingering in this environment. Once she’s comfortable, you’re friends for life!
Brittany came in with a tail injury, so she now has a nub tail and it suits her personality so well.

Come by Paulding County Animal Control to meet Brittany and all of her friends currently looking for a home.
