CASA Paulding to Participate in CASA Awareness Day in Georgia on January 22
Dallas Georgia, January 12, 2026– On Thursday, January 22, CASA Paulding will join other CASA programs across the state for CASA Awareness Day as its Awareness Ambassadors share about the impact and mission of the CASA program. As part of CASA Awareness Day, staff, volunteers, board members, and other local supporters of C ASA Paulding will also wear red shoes and a CASA sticker to help bring attention to the day.
The red shoes are a nod to Dorothy’s iconic red slippers in the beloved The Wizard of Oz film and Dorothy/Judy Garland’s journey home. For children in foster care, home may feel elusive or miles away. CASA volunteers step in and stand beside each child, advocating for their best interests, as they make the journey home. The red shoes demonstrate this journey in a way people remember.
CASA Awareness Day is a statewide effort to invite new community members to become engaged with their local CASA programs by employing Awareness Ambassadors to share about the CASA program with their network of colleagues, friends, and family leading up to and on January 22. Additionally, they will wear red shoes (or socks) to bring awareness to the day. Participants are encouraged to take photos and post on their social media networks, helping to further expand the reach.
Ultimately, CASA Awareness Day will help further share about the mission of CASA Paulding and raise awareness across the community, resulting in the recruitment of more CASA volunteers to serve more children experiencing foster care in Paulding County. The day will also draw in additional supporters for CASA Paulding, which currently has approximately 30 kids waiting for a CASA Advocate.

We are giving away FREE fruits and vegetables on TUESDAY, JANUARY 20, 2026! Families do NOT have to be clients of Helping Hands or residents of Paulding County, nor is any paperwork required. No need to get out of their cars either! Please pass this information on to your family members, friends, neighbors, classmates, church pals or strangers you meet. Remember to post it on your page or other social media platform. We began this mobile food program in July 2016 and have been giving out an average of 50-75 pounds per family! Also, please let me know if any of you would like to volunteer on the selected Tuesday of each month to help with this program. We need you! MISSING: Jerri Clay Luttrell
Jerri was last seen on May 12, 2007, in Dallas, Georgia. She was staying at the former Days Inn on Old Harris Rd. when she vanished, leaving her belongings behind.
Our family continues to seek answers. If you have any information—no matter how small or insignificant it may seem—please reach out.

Allgood Charity Sock Drive
The BE THE VOICE (BTV) scholars of Allgood Elementary had their first schoolwide charity event of collecting socks. BE THE VOICE is a student-led initiative that inspires, compassion, and positive peer leadership in K-12 schools creating an environment where scholars thrive.
The BTV 5th grade scholars collected 1,031 pairs of socks in only one week. Allgood BTV scholars donated socks collected to the school social worker (Mrs. Cayetano) and Ms. Patti Long (Pictured-Right), Founder of A Hand Up Homeless Outreach of Georgia (Provides essential resources and services to those experiencing homelessness and hardship).
Mrs. Sammantha Haywood (Allgood Counselor) and the BTV scholars were instrumental in encouraging school support from teachers, staff, scholars, and their parents. They set a goal of collecting 1,000 pairs and met their goal with collecting over 1,000 pairs of socks.
Principal Shetel Slusher was extremely excited and proud of the one-week accomplishment led by Mrs. Haywood and the BTV Allgood Elementary Gators.

After 35 years of service, a huge congratulations to Captain David Parson on his retirement from Paulding County Fire & Rescue!

Parson started his fire service career as a volunteer in 1989, and was hired as one of Paulding County's first full-time firefighters in 1996. After more than 3 decades of dedication to our community, Captain Parson leaves behind a legacy of leadership, professionalism, and service.

Thank you, Captain Parson, for answering the call for so many years, for mentoring hundreds of other firefighters, being a good friend to all, and for the lasting impact you’ve made on PCFR and the citizens of Paulding County. You will be missed brother!
