PSA: Be on the lookout for a new Bitcoin Scam

Criminals are targeting citizens in the Polk County area, including Bartow. They are impersonating law enforcement “deputy sheriffs” and demanding payment in reference to an “active warrant” They are telling victims they are under a “gag order” and not to speak with anyone about the warrant. Then, they demand money, specifically requesting their victims visit bitcoin atms and complete payment, which most times are untraceable transactions.

If you receive a call from someone you believe may be impersonating a law enforcement officer and requesting payment hang up and notify us immediately.

Law Enforcement agencies will NEVER ask for any payment via phone. Be Safe!

Honoring our fallen heroes… The 16th Annual Warrior Walk, hosted by the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps and the Polk County Veterans Council, takes place Saturday, October 25th. Join us at 9 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church on Lake Hollingsworth Drive in Lakeland, as we walk the 2.7-mile trail in memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Let’s come together as a community to honor and remember. The 16th Annual Warrior Walk — we will never forget.

Bring your unwanted chemicals, pesticides, paint, and more — and help keep our community clean and green. Enter the collection event from East Georgia Street into Bartow High School.
