Shelly King and her husband Lyle called Basin, Wyoming, home for 40 years until their recent move to Dayton, in 2021, to be closer to their grandchildren. Since earning a Master’s Degree in Library Science from the University of Kentucky, Shelly worked as a children’s librarian at the Big Horn County Library and then as a teacher-librarian at the Greybull Elementary and Greybull Middle School. After retiring, she became a professional storyteller, telling her stories across Wyoming and in parts of Montana. She has conducted many storytelling workshops, told stories at museums, at the National Storytelling Conference, Thermopolis Discovery Days, schools and at the Wyo Theater in Sheridan. Shelly will be telling some of her favorite stories Saturday, March 28th, at 6:30 P.M., at her beloved theater, the Basin City Arts Center. She loves all genres of stories from historical stories, folktales and personal stories, and will try to give the audience a glimpse into the wonderful world of storytelling.
