My favorite lyric Rich Mullins wrote is from my favorite song Rich Mullins recorded, “The Love of God.” I had the honor of producing a version of the song for Cory Asbury with the Old Bear Records fellas, recorded inside of Rich’s old house in Tennessee. It also features my friend and art icon Jimmy Abegg. Plus, I added some subtle vocals to it with the gang. Here’s that favorite lyric, one I lean on in my heart:

Joy and sorrow are this ocean
and in their every ebb and flow,
now the Lord a door has opened
that all hell could never close

Here I'm tested and made worthy,
tossed about but lifted up
In the reckless raging fury
that they call the love of God.

Out today on Old Bear Records.
In Rich Mullins’ old living room down in Bellsburg, Tennessee — the place where so many of his songs took shape — Cory Asbury and Jimmy Abegg sat down with some friends and brought “The Love of God” back to life. They didn’t chase perfection. They just chased the spirit of the song.
This is the third single off the upcoming Back To Bellsburg record. Jimmy, who played guitar with Rich in the Ragamuffins, brings that history with him. And for the rest of us, this is the hymn that quietly planted the seed for Cory’s “Reckless Love.”
It’s out now. Worth your time.

The past few weeks have left their mark.

✿ Carli ✿ shared I See The Lord. Eric Andersen released Worship With Friends. Ryan ( opal.hush )stopped by to track new songs and left behind a few typewritten notes we’ll probably hang onto for a long time.

Little reminders that good records are made as much in the moments between the music as they are in the songs themselves.

Looking forward to what’s next. All photos by Olivia

Out today: *I See The Lord* by ✿ Carli ✿ .
These songs have been living with us for a while now — through demos, long studio days, and quiet moments in between. Now they’re finally yours to hear.
Carli made something honest and beautiful here.
Produced by Carli Brill, Anthony Hoisington, and Chris Hoisington, this EP was also the first project completed in our new studio after the move. A few friends from the Old Bear family stopped by to add their voices and instruments along the way, and it became a true community record in the best sense. Engineered by Kyler Ribbing , mixed by Jaron Micah Bundy and mastered by Evan Sieling

This week we welcome back opal.hush to the studio! It’s weeks like this that make the team here at Old Bear Records remember why we started this whole thing in the first place. New tunes are on the horizon, just around the bend or in the near future. How ever you choose to word it, that up to you. We’re just happy!

We’ve been looking forward to this one.

I See The Lord by our own arrives 6.12.26.

Partly because we love these songs. Partly because they were the first songs recorded in our new studio space.

When we listen back, we don’t just hear a new record. We hear the beginning of a new chapter for Old Bear. Fresh paint on the walls. New microphones. A lot of hope. A lot of coffee.

Just a few more sleeps.

Some songs were built for the road ahead.

, , and breathe new life into Rich Mullins’ “Hope to Carry On,” recorded in the living room of Rich’s home in Bellsburg, Tennessee.

There’s a lightness to this performance—a reminder that hope isn’t always quiet or distant. Sometimes it arrives with a melody you can’t shake and a chorus that keeps pulling you forward.

Part of the Back to Bellsburg collection, “Hope to Carry On” is out now wherever you stream music. Link in bio 👆🏻.

Our team is SO GRATEFUL that the Zion Kickstarter has reached 100% on the base goal. Now we have our sights set on the exciting stretch goal… to release a whole album’s worth of (mostly) never-before-heard songs of Rich Mullins and his band Zion! Hurry, the campaign ends June 10 — https://bit.ly/zionks
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

We’ve got another great release today! New single by Line Break.
“Park Road” drifts through these things without trying to hold them still. It understands that some places stay with us long after we’ve left them, becoming part landscape, part story, part longing.

Line Break has made a song that feels lived in—worn at the edges in all the right ways. A song that trusts quiet observations more than grand declarations.

We’ve been carrying this one around for a while. Happy to finally pass it along.

“Park Road” is out now. Click the link in our bio👆🏻.
