Today I am restoring and remastering a song that was originally written by Peter DeRose in 1933 and broadcast with May Singhi as "The Sweethearts of the Air" on the NBC radio network. It was recorded by various artists on several labels including Jimmy Dorsey, Guy Lombardo and Bing Crosby. Pop versions of the song were recorded by Artie Shaw, Adelaide Hall, The Dominoes and even Screamin' Jay Hawkins Sun Ra and the Osmonds. The original song is beautiful and haunting and was a favorite of Eleanor Blackmore, who frequently played it on the piano for her grandson Richie, who later named his band "Deep Purple".
