For the past 3 months, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with 31 dedicated community violence intervention leaders from 21 cities across the US. This collaboration is part of the University of Chicago Crime Lab’s Community Safety Leadership Academies (CSLA), encompassing the Community Violence Intervention Leadership Academy (CVILA) and the Policing Leadership Academy.

Being involved in the first CVI-specific program in the United States is truly an honor. CVILA aims to enhance the leadership and management skills of senior CVI leaders, empowering us to effectively oversee the implementation and development of CVI strategies on a larger scale.

Our cohort, lovingly referred to as Px3, consists of leaders from various levels, all driven by the common goal of uplifting our communities from mere survival to prosperity. Our bond has transcended monthly immersive week class sessions to daily interactions, cross-city visits, and navigating problem-solving sessions for our own cities challenges!

I am thankful for the network of partners who stand ready to work alongside me in reshaping outcomes for Black and Brown individuals in Baton Rouge and beyond. Together, we are committed to making IMPACT and .

Chapter 43: A Celebration of Light, Growth, and Boundless Possibility

I stand in gratitude for the story that has been written thus far—a story filled with transitions, triumphs, and an unwavering dedication to being a light in this world. Each year has brought lessons that have shaped me 💎, challenges that have strengthened me 😮‍💨, and moments of joy that have reminded me of the beauty of life🫶🏽.

This birthday(11.18), I paused to honor the transitions that have carried me to this moment.

My reflection - The ebbs and flows of life’s seasons have taught me the importance of surrendering to change🙌🏽, trusting the process🫡, and embracing the unknown with open arms🫣.

Transition is NOT just about endings—it’s about creating space for new beginnings, new opportunities, and new horizons waiting to be explored.

I reflected on the light I have strived to bring into the world. Through service, love, and purpose, I have sought to inspire, uplift, and ignite hope in others. Whether through the lives I’ve touched, the initiatives I’ve led, or the communities I’ve served, I am humbled by the impact I’ve been able to create. Yet, I know this light is not mine alone—it is the reflection of those who have poured into me, believed in me, and journeyed alongside me.

As I celebrate the milestones and achievements of my journey, I do so with a deep sense of pride.
