If you’re thinking of pursuing a career as a social media manager, these are some things that you really need to know going into it.

I had to learn some of these the hard way so let me save you the trouble.

This field is hard. You are not going to be a perfect fit for everyone and that’s a GOOD THING.

You’re going to get creative blocks, have posts that flop, have people totally overlook hours of hard work. It may not seem worth it in the moment (believe me I’ve doubted choosing this career many times) but it totally pays off every time you gain a new follower, have a post do twice as good as usual, or even do a free audit because someone finally said YES.

Yes this field is hard but you belong in it. You can do it. There’s so much good in it too.

I’m bringing you along my journey of starting this career while i share the good the bad and the ugly of this industry. I hope you stick around!! 🤍

Consistent posting will grow your account. But what you post matters more than anything.

You’ll hear people say to post even when you hate it, and honestly? They’re not wrong. Consistency does work. But the real growth comes from actually listening to your audience.

My client was posting 2-3 times a week. Project photos, educational carousels, aesthetic videos. And we were seeing growth! But at the four month mark I took a deep dive into their analytics and started asking questions. What’s performing best? What formats are landing? Why is the audience gravitating toward certain posts over others?

That’s when it clicked. The content that hit hardest was the stuff that made people feel something. And the format they wanted it in? Reels. So we leaned in and posted at least one Reel a week.

The rest? You can swipe through and see for yourself.

If your account is growing slowly and you’re not sure why, a fresh set of eyes on your analytics might be all you need. DM me AUDIT to claim one of the free audits I’m offering to small businesses right now. Spots are limited!

I’ve been holding back and I regret it. 😣

We’ve all seen what the internet can be. You show up, you’re vulnerable, and crossing your fingers nobody picks you apart for it. So you play it safe. You shrink a little.

That doesn’t build a community that you love and connect with. That doesn’t build client relationships worth having.

So I’m going to come on here fully myself. No more hiding behind the fear.

I got the chance to audit a local handyman’s page for free. Here’s how I did it..👇🏼

This page has an amazing foundation. Lots of clear project photos, a good branded profile picture, clear guidelines on how to contact them; their page just doesn’t match the beautiful work they do, therefore they could easily be overlooked by a potential client.

I broke down their audit into 3 clear sections and outlined what was working and what needed some improvement in a way that provided them with clear next steps to follow.

Helping small businesses and getting a chance to make a difference for them is exactly why I built JP Social Co. 🥹

I am offering a few more slots for free audits to small businesses. If you’d like yours to be next, drop ‘AUDIT’ down in the comments or come say hi in my DMs and I’d be happy to break down your social media for you 🤍

Building YOUR content calendar is just as important as building your clients 👀

I’ve seen so many social media managers lose sight of their own content and fall off their posting schedule and honestly, it’s so easy to do when you’re focused on everyone else’s business. Let’s not forget your presence matters too. 🫶🏻

I’m a die hard Notion fan and use it for everything, and my content calendar is no exception. Here’s exactly how I build it out for every single post:
The title goes at the top, then I drop in a rough caption draft that gets updated once it’s approved. I tag the content type (reel, carousel, graphic, story) so I always know what I’m creating. The hashtags field keeps my five categories consistent across every post: branded, industry-specific, content-descriptive, location, and community. Notes hold the visual direction, script, or any slide copy. Platform tags keep Facebook and Instagram straight. Publish date and scheduled time keep everything on track, and revision notes make sure nothing gets missed when I go back in to edit

It sounds like a lot but once it’s built it just flows so well and makes staying organized way easier 🤩🌙

If you want a peek at the full template, drop a comment below and I’ll share it with you 💌

I started this page with the intention of sharing every win and every loss along my journey. Let’s talk about my first win! 🤩

A brand reached out to me for social media services from a post I made in a group. I knew posting in groups was important, so I hopped on that immediately after launching, and it finally paid off!

When you start a business, there is so much excitement but also so much fear.

“What if I’m not good enough?”, “What if no one resonates with me and I’m not a good fit for them?”, “What if they say no?”

At the end of the day, all those things could be true in this case, but I got my first chance to try, and I’m genuinely so excited, proud of myself and yes…still scared 🤭

This is all to say if you’re starting a business, don’t hesitate to put yourself out there. Someone will love what you have to offer and be the perfect fit for you.

I cannot wait to see where this goes, and I’m dying to take you all along for the ride. 🤍

There is one platform that is right for your business and it is probably not the one you feel pressured to be on. 👀

The biggest mistake I see business owners make is spreading themselves across every platform trying to keep up, and ending up burnt out with nothing to show for it.

You do not need to be everywhere. You need to be where your people are. 🤍

This video walks you through the 3 questions to ask yourself before choosing a platform and why starting with one is not playing small. It is being strategic.

Not sure which platform is the right fit for your business? Send me a DM with the word AUDIT and let’s figure it out together. 💌

Feeling like you need to be on every platform just to keep up?

You don’t, and trying to be everywhere is one of the fastest ways to burn out without seeing results.

The truth is, there is one platform that is right for your business. You just need to know how to find it.

Here’s what to ask yourself before choosing where to show up:

• Where does your ideal client actually spend their time online?
• What kind of content can you realistically and consistently create?
• What does your business look and feel like visually?

Answer those three questions and your platform becomes a lot more obvious.

This carousel breaks it all down including a quick snapshot of where different types of businesses tend to thrive.

Not sure which platform fits your business? Send me a message with the word AUDIT and let’s figure it out together.

Most businesses are only using one of the four content types. (Spoiler: it’s the sell.)

Here’s the thing, when every post is a sales pitch, your audience tunes out. Not because they don’t like you, but because they never got the chance to actually connect with you first.

The fix is simpler than you think!! Rotate through all four: educate, connect, inspire, sell. That’s it. That’s the whole strategy.

Swipe through to see how each one works, then save this so you have it when you’re planning your next post. 🤎
