✨ Color the Creek 2022 ✨

While the artists were painting on walls, we were the fly on the wall capturing the phases of these beautiful murals. Take a browse through the chronological photos that honor the process of creation 💫 and for a final look at them all, be sure to stop by and see them in person! They're sure to impress! 🧡🔥

Congratulations to the 2021 Graduates of Battle Creek Public Schools! We are so so proud of you. In this next phase of life you may learn your hardest lessons, but reap your greatest rewards. Keep learning, keep healing, keep growing. You are the future and the world awaits the beautiful impact you'll make. 🌎🌍🌏💫

Thank you Nate Hunt & Battle Creek Public Schools for having us out. It was so fun chasing the parade around the city! We only made it to a few spots, but here are some highlight photos. It was an honor meeting some of the graduates including Danayshia Davis and Kelci Coy of Battle Creek Central High School. 💛💙

Here's to a new chapter of life with more accomplishments to come. Congrats BCPS, Happy Graduation. 🥳🌹🎉

Last night the Battle Creek community was brought together to stand in solitude against racially motivated hate crimes and discrimination. Local organizations and leaders put together a "Vigil for Racial Healing" to honor and memorialize the victims of the recent shooting in Atlanta on March 16, 2021.

With regional news coverage present, the vigil made clear statements against Asian hate, and called to disrupt cycles of all race-based violence. The event featured a candle-lit moment of silence, an acoustic performance of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," followed by powerful words of a few brave speakers.

Thank you to our local leaders and community organizations who put together or sponsored this event: BC Collective, Big Homies, Inc., Burma Center, Battle Creek Coalition for Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation, and Students for Equity. ❤️

Goodmorning! ⛅️ Yesterday we had the humble opportunity to officially pitch our business during the Morning Light cohort graduation ceremony. The last 6 months we have been involved in their entrepreneurial program to help launch Free City Mag. (Check out the video from the event on their page!)

We’re eager to share this platform with Battle Creek and surrounding areas.. and we’ve created this GoFundMe to help get the ball rolling. All money donated will go towards not only print and distribution of the first couple magazine issues, but also to pay our writers and contributors who’ve volunteered their time and talents to this platform.

Free City Mag celebrates art, small business, lifestyle, and the people that create it all. Any donation is greatly appreciated 🤍

Tonight the community of Battle Creek and surrounding areas stood in solidarity with the people of Myanmar to plea for the return of Democracy, and the unconditional release of civilian and political prisoners.

The November 2020 elections proved the Burmese people chose Democracy, however it was taken from them, accosting their proud and peaceful leaders as well.

With the recent and fearful election year in America in mind, it is important now more than ever to stand against dictatorship and come together as allies. We support a government that is for the people that make up the cities and communities of this world.
