Christianity is not focused on debating people but rather debating ideas.
As a society that loves debating, we can totally get swayed and just get quite right mad at each other as well! We all have opinions that were shaped and still shaped by our experiences in our lifetime. The Election day is fast aproaching, and we as the people, must vote! It's actually a gift not an obligation. Thanks to so many soldiers that have died for us, we have the liberty to praise God, vote and really be ourselves as we are ambassadors of Christ. The question is, as Christians, are you going to debate the person or the idea of the person. Are you willing to sit down with someone and have a discussion rather than shouting at each other? That's what the Wisdom Conversation at my college really talked about this evening, is really just listening to each other. The biggest thing that I'm learning is listening instead of just talking. Even being silent helps out! Anyways, for those who are not Christians that are reading this post, I love that you have something to share and I'm willing to see your side of things even if I have a view that is different than me. That means, that we are all human, and yes, we are not perfect, but it's great to just sit down and clash swords so to speak from time to time in a reasonable fashion.
Tell your story:
1. For those who are believers, what can you as a Christian, show someone that is even another Christian or non-believer, that you still love them this week and throughout your lifetime, even if they are different and have opinions that are clashing with yours?
2. For those who are believers, pray that God gives you discernment as we vote this election and wisdom so you can really share the gospel by just being yourself and being an ambassador of Christ by just listening to one another.
3. What was one situation where you wished you could do better when it came to debates or just even had a situation where you lost sight of what the discussion was all about rather if it was with a friend or family?
