SHE PUNCHED OUT FOR THE LAST TIME:
AccessVision's Programming & Officer Manager Vickie Dunn retires on June 12th, following 37 years of service. She was hired on February 6, 1989 and has the distinction of being AccessVision's longest-serving employee.
In her time at AccessVision, Vickie took great pride in being able to manage the bookkeeping/accounting and TV program scheduling with great accuracy. Under her watch, AccessVision's channels have shown over 131,000 TV programs totaling almost 254,000 hours of air time.
Double-and triple-checking numbers often meant working extra hours on nights and weekends, which she always did without being asked or even telling her coworkers. Vickie is known among her coworkers and volunteers as the "office mom", always taking the time to listen to others.
According to Vickie, "When I accepted the position of Executive Secretary, my initial plans were to work there for up to a year while pursuing my passion in an accounting career. But after only one week my title was changed to Programming/Office Manager, I was given a raise and my career was underway."
"During the 37 years working at AccessVision there was hardly a day that went by that I wasn’t contently working with numbers in some capacity, along with honing in on other skills. But the real blessings have come from the three incredible bosses that I’ve worked for: Jerry Brown, Dale Geminder and Jason Augenstein, all of the great coworkers I’ve worked alongside of and the amazing volunteers that I’ve crossed paths with. These people have etched a place in my heart. I’m very thankful that God had other plans in store for me and I didn’t spend 37 years working in a cubicle running a calculator."
When former AccessVision Executive Director Dale Geminder retired in 2023, Vickie was instrumental in assuring a smooth transition for his replacement. Her long history with the organization not only ensured continuity in accounting, but also provided much-needed historical perspective on past board meetings, policies and events.
AccessVision's current Executive Director Jason Augenstein says "Vickie is one of the hardest-working people I've ever known and she deserves all the credit in the world for keeping AccessVision's books in order through many funding challenges and staffing changes over the years. She will be sorely missed by all of us.”
