POWERED BY THE FIRST AMENDMENT:

AccessVision believes in:
• Using media and technology to advance education, encourage
community participation and promote transparency.
• Serving the community through commercial-free access.
• Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.
• The principles of free speech, content neutrality, localism, and
tolerance of diverse opinions.

With these beliefs in mind, we present to you a pair of local events which firmly fall within the rights and privileges of The First Amendment, our fellow Americans' ability to exercise their Free Speech and to petition our government for redress of grievences.

The first program is the "No Kings" rally that was held on October 18th on Beckley Road. The event was covered by some of our volunteers, and you can watch highlights from that rally on AccessVision. A diverse offering of views came from all sides the political spectrum: Republican, Democrat, Independent......and from whatever party that guy in the inflatable chicken outfit calls his own......

It was a celebratory event, free of arguing or conflict.....just a bunch of Americans coming together to express themselves peacefully.

What are your rights as a protestor?

We're glad you asked, because our second offering is a program called "Know Your Rights".

This educational panel discussion was held at Kellogg Community College and hosted by the Battle Creek Coalition for Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation.

Guest Speakers included Eric Greene from KCC, Calhoun County Government Commissioner Dr. Monique French, Jolene Weiner-Vatter, Calhoun Public Defender, Calhoun County Sheriff Steve Hinkley, and Diop Harris, local activist and Candidate for Michigan's 4th District.

The 90 minute discussion highlighted our rights and responsibilities of Free Speech as American Citizens, the limitations of the Government to quell our Freedoms, and the legal ramifications for both.

These programs BOTH present our Democracy in action, and AccessVision is pleased to help bring them to our Community.

Check out the airtimes, and be sure to watch both!

AccessVision. YOUR VOICE. YOUR COMMUNITY.

If you have a political view to share, check out our website to learn how YOU can take a class, get certified on our equipment, and produce a program like these of your very own!

AMENDING THE CHARTER SAGA:
Parts 1 & 2.

The B.C. Commission Workshop that was held last night was to discuss amending the Battle Creek City Charter in ways that would allow for each Commissioner to serve a 4 year term instead of our current 2 year terms.

It was quite a lively discussion and included suggestions about term limits and staggered elections.

That was part 1.

Part 2 came shortly after as the gavel fell and the Battle Creek City Commission began its regular meeting....where the whole idea was tabled until the next meeting.

Stay tuned for part 3. And maybe 4?

Until then, get caught up by watching what you've missed so far in episodes 1 & 2 by clicking on the link below to watch both video from our ON DEMAND server on our website.

To Be Continued.....

Part 1 - "The Workshop". 50 minutes run time. Rated PG.

STOP! HEY, WHAT'S THAT SOUND?
Everybody look what going down....

It's "Audio Day" for BC STEM Students taking the Camcorder classes at AccessVision!

Today's the day when we learn who wants to be behind the camera, and who wants to be ON camera! It's usually split pretty evenly.

Sometimes we think that the kids these days just want to make up silly dances for TikTok (and some do.....we see a few of those dances in class on "video day" too)....but there are just as many students who's eyes really light up when they hear how crystal clear the sound is when you use a professional microphone.

Tomorrow, this group will come back in for their final tests. They really soaked in a lot of information about the importance of good sound for your videos today.....We bet they'll put out some of the best sounding TikTok videos on the internet real soon!

MAYOR MONDAY!
Watch the show TONIGHT at 6pm on AccessVision Channel 17 & 917 on Comcast Cable, Channel 99 on U-Verse, or streaming over on our website under the "Live 17" option!

DON'T BE SCARED:

If you come across one of our staff out and about trick-or-treating....you will get to see an awesome Halloween costume up close!

We looked up and down the whole internet to find this authentic-looking, and spot on accurate costume for your modern TV / Video / Cameraman / Behind the Scenes Professional.

It's uncanny!

We couldn't be happier to show off these amazing designs as we dress up to celebrate the season of free candy tonight and all weekend long!

By the way, don't ask us what a Gaffer is. We don't know either....it's just one of those job titles in the never-ending list of production crew members at the end of the movie credits.

We think they are mythical creatures, actually.

But again.....please don't be scared. We're more afraid of you than you are of us.....

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!
