When do you tend to feel farthest from the Lord? During hard times or when things are ok?

I've noticed lately that I don't feel as close as I have in the recent past, and then it hit me... When things are hard, I am in constant communication, constant prayer, constant begging to give me strength and wisdom...and I feel his constant presence and nudging. I am constantly in His Word to find peace and perhaps answers.

But when he has gotten me through that storm, and I am no longer in desperation, I feel myself drifting away... No longer in constant contact like before. Don't get me wrong. I still pray through the day, and have an ongoing dialogue, but for some reason, I (falsely) start acting like I don't need him as much for this part. How ridiculous is that?!?!

So the "seek and ye shall find" is 100% true. The more you seek him, the more you will find him. And if you don't feel close to him sometimes, it's not because He walked away, but because you did.... Even if just a little bit.

So what should you do about this?? You should make Him a priority everyday, as if your life depends on it... Because it does. Read your Bible daily. Search scripture for answers (always in full context) Pray without ceasing. Praise him for all of your blessings, and consider every hardship joy.

Interesting.

I lost over 50 lbs back in 2017 after beginning a ketogenic diet. I hadn't felt so great since my 20s. I am so thankful that I lost that weight when I did, because soon after that, menopause hit, my grandmother passed away, and my dad started his battle with dementia, eventually succumbing to it. There were many other painful things happening in my life at that time, and as an emotional eater, I ate. And ate. And ate. And here I am now, ready to get back to business. I can't afford to put off getting healthy anymore. And neither can you. It's time to take control of the things we CAN control, and one of those things is what we put into our mouths!

There are SOOOO many reason's why you should get up and move, but I think 7 is the perfect number to share. 😉

When you always feel like you are running on empty, be sure you take time each day to fill your cup...

Have you ever heard the saying that you can't fill a cup from an empty pitcher? That's because as women, we have many roles, and we fill many cups. We find ourselves filling the cups of our husband, kids, grandkids, friends, our job, our church, and maybe even our parents....But we can't give away what we don't have. That's why it is so important to take care of ourselves even when, and perhaps especially when, we are overwhelmed with all the things we need to do.

Tell me your favorite ways to fill your cup. A hot shower or a hot cup of coffee often do the trick for me.

Alzheimer's Dementia is far more common than it should be. There are things that we can do...choices we can make...that can minimize our risk of suffering from this fate.

As a Hot Mess on a Mission, I encourage and empower women who are overwhelmed and overloaded, to live healthier, more peaceful lives by focusing on what truly matters. Through the lens of biblical faith, we explore how mental health, physical health, food and nutrition, and organization are interconnected, offering practical guidance to create a healthy life and peaceful mind. Whether it's improving brain and gut health with nutrient-dense recipes, organizing chaotic spaces, or building resilience through God's Word, I provide tools and encouragement to help you thrive in every area of life.
