This detour with new stop conditions will stay in place for the duration of the staged construction of the US 1 Bypass Project with expected completion in the second quarter of 2026

Strong to possibly isolated severe thunderstorms will develop inland during the mid to late afternoon hours today. Stronger storms along the I-75 corridor and inland southeast GA will be capable of producing briefly strong wind gusts and frequent lightning strikes. Slow moving storms along the I-75 corridor may linger into the evening hours and could create a localized flood risk, mainly at urban locations in the Suwannee Valley and north central FL.

Georgia may see strong to severe thunderstorms this evening into tonight. The hot and humid atmosphere will have plenty of energy to produce thunderstorms capable of 50 to 70 mph damaging wind gusts.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed much of East-Central and Northeast Georgia in an Enhanced Risk (level 3 of 5) and most of the rest of Georgia in a Slight Risk (level 2 of 5) for severe weather tonight.

Scattered Thunderstorms will develop today as the Gulf and Atlantic seabreeze move inland with isolated strong thunderstorms focusing between highway 301 and US-17/I-95 this afternoon into early evening. Strong thunderstorms may produce wind gusts to 40-50 mph, frequent lightning, and torrential downpours.
