notes on fremont ave part 2
I captured this photo on one of my last nights at fremont ave. most of my stuff was packed away and we threw a little a going away part to celebrate the space and all the wonderful times we had.
from the early days when I first moved in and built a floating wall to sound proof the studio space. Thanks to
assembling the track names, single covers, and song order for the ‘space between words’ . I spent days trying different sequences and names. Testing to see what felt good. I love that through line of finishing my first spare record in this place that is being celebrated on the second full length project. I think would call that the thread weight….but I won’t speak for her.
-6 : fremont was more than just my home and my music studio it was a safe space to create all sorts of things. I did a lot of sewing when I was lived here: like this quilt made from my old clothes and repurposed linen. I love these photos because you can see how the scraps of fabric start out and watch them come together to take on a completely different shape.
/8: on the back wall of the studio space I had a little work bench that I used for all sorts of electronics projects and other messier crafts like wood working and such.
another sewing project. This patch required both machine sewing and hand sewing. I found the vest in Astoria with when we drove out to see and perform. i love that feeling of discover something and having a gut feeling that it is meant for you in that moment. it could be something you weren’t even looking for but it came to you when you needed it…
the portal to the back patio at fremont. Many warm summer nights were spent back here laughing with friends, listening to tunes, quietly contemplating the next step. I am so lucky to have visited and existed in this space. I am forever grateful to fremont ave for showing me the transformative power of space and place. It was here I learned my love for hosting, realized the importance of space, and how to properly utilize it…
