Commissioners Court accepted a $49,875 donation from Harold and Cheryl Bowers for dirt work service related to Bowers Park in Palacios at the court's meeting Monday, Dec. 15.
The Snail Kite – listed as an endangered species since 1967 - is officially new to the Matagorda County-Mad Island Marsh Christmas Bird Count (CBC) for 2025.
Election season has begun in Matagorda County as positions for city, ISD and county races are announced for 2026.
Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller issued an urgent alert to producers statewide to inspect their pastures for a newly detected and highly damaging pest – the Pasture Mealybug (Helicococcus summervillei).
The pest is confirmed in Matagorda County and in 19 other south and southeast Texas counties.
City Council heard results from the Animal Task Force online survey during a workshop last week.
The city had an Animal Control Ordinance Update Public Input Session scheduled for Tuesday night, Dec. 16.
Bay City's December sales tax rebate of $634,749 was down 9.02% from December 2024.
