The Sea Coast Echo is the official newspaper of Hancock County, Mississippi, founded in January 1892. The first Echo publisher was Charles G. Moreau, who co-owned the paper with business partner one-time Pass Christian Coast Beacon manager W.L. The newspaper has famously missed only two issues during its long history. One date was 1918 when the publisher's daughter succumbed to plague. The second

was in 1969 in the aftermath Hurricane Camille. History would not repeat itself in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina made Bay St. Louis and Waveland its ground zero: The newspaper was produced at a sister newspaper in Kentucky and trucked to the devastated Gulf Coast where residents were clamoring for local news. The paper is now owned by Alabama-based Lancaster Management Inc. It is published weekly on Wednesday.

Woodenhead’s 50th Anniversary featuring Bonerama’s Bones

Bay Saint Louis, MS - Woodenhead's 50th Anniversary featuring Bonerama's bones takes the historical stage on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 7PM. Tickets are $25 online in advance and $35 at the door. Food for purchase by Chef Gene Coia along with a cash/credit bar.
Woodenhead formed in 1975 by Jimmy Robinson and students at The Loyola College Of Music in New Orleans. The music grew from rock and progrock influences, New Orleans funk and R&B, classical studies, and the fusion explosion with bands like The Mahavishnu Orchestra, the Dixie Dregs, Allen Holdsworth and others. With a few early personnel changes, the lineup has remained consistent: Jimmy Robinson, guitar, Fran Comiskey, keyboards, Paul Clement, bass, Mark Whitaker, drums.
The band has been the natural choice for support act, opening concerts for Chick Corea’s Elektrik Band, Bela Fleck & The Flecktones, The Mahavishnu Orchestra, The Dixie Dregs, The Steve Morse Band, Allen Holdsworth, Spyro Gyra, Hugh Masekela, Johnny Winter, Bill Bruford & Patrick Moraz, The John McLaughlin Trio, The Neville brothers, Jeff Beck and others. The music is a high energy fusion of instrumental Rock & Roll, Jazz, R&B and Celtic influences.
Rachel Dangermond, Director of 100 Men Hall, said, "Jimmy Robinson has become a bar for musicians that play the Hall. He has set that bar high, and you better believe that Woodenhead's reunion tour is worth your while. AND he is bringing the bone section from Bonerama! What???"
Woodenhead has emerged as probably the most important and certainly the most fascinating musical unit New Orleans has seen in years...adamantly original, almost spiritual.."
Eddie Allman, BATON ROUGE MORNING ADVOCATE
The X factor in Woodenhead’s music is that they are tricky and progressive, with time changes and impossible licks to spare, but they are also visceral and fun, especially in front of a live audience.
Bett Milano, Offbeat Magazine
"Robinson is a killer guitarist, capable of removing the heads of most head banging metal freaks. He is also 'tasty' in the old-fashioned sense, rarely letting speed overtake the essentials."
Mark Bingham, WAVELENGTH MAGAZINE
For an additional fee you may reserve a table here.
Food for purchase by Chef Gene Coia. Chef Gene has been cooking since he could see the stovetop. He has earned his stripes in and about the New Orleans culinary scene, winning multiple awards. Catch him cooking for the kids for the 100 Men Hall's A Soulful Christmas every December and hope you catch his magic for the Hall's gumbo cook-off, Rock 'N' Roux.
The historical 100 Men Hall, a famed stop on the Chitlin' Circuit, a Must See Venue by Rolling Stone Magazine, winner of the 2024 MS Governor’s Award for Excellence for Arts in the Community, a rare site on the MS Blues Trail, is maintained and preserved under a 501c3 nonprofit organization (Hundred Members Debating Benevolent Association, est. 1894). Located at 303 Union Street, Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi, the Hall is supported by its membership organization 100 WOMEN DBA, as well as from the generosity of sponsors and donors. The 100 Men Hall is the only endowed African American landmark in Mississippi.
