“The peace I feel without your presence in my life is worth my being the villain in your story.”
That quote hit hard—and it’s backed by scripture more than folks realize.
Sometimes, walking away from chaos means being misunderstood. Proverbs 27:6 reminds us that the kisses of an enemy are deceitful. Proverbs 27:7 tells us the full soul rejects even sweet things, but the starving soul will settle for bitterness.
There’s wisdom in knowing when to embrace and when to refrain from embracing (Ecclesiastes 3:5). Even Jesus was called mad and accused of having a devil (Mark 3:21; John 10:20). If peace means you’re painted as the villain, you’re in good company.
Romans 12:18 sets the limit: “If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.” Sometimes, it’s not possible. Walk in peace anyway.
