This weekend we are open on Thu, Sept 25th, Fri. Sept 26th, and Sat. Sept 27th from 10 am to 5:30 pm each day. This Week Garland Fulcher Retail Seafood Market recognizes the upcoming October 18th WALK FOR LIFE " Honoring Life as We Remember" This walk for life invites us all to stand for each uniquely created life. The 4.5 mile walk begins at 8am, on Saturday, October 18th at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church located at 1149 White Farm Rd, Oriental, NC. Registration is open and you may register to participate in the walk at: givebutter.com/honoring-life-2025 . Registration is $35.00. If you wish to have breakfast at the church the cost is $8.00. Tee Shirts will also be available for sale that morning. The halfway point for the walk will be the Oriental Town Hall. Rides back to the church will be available at the half-way mark if needed. This is a super event for a great cause. We the collaborative effort of 1st Choice Pregnancy Resources of Pamlico and EP7 Youth Outreach for arranging this Walk for Life. Note: ticket/registration fees and t-shirt purchases are not tax deductible. Please stop by as we honor Fay on her special day and thank her for her 50 years of service to our community. We will also celebrate with her new Senior Games Olympic Gold Medals - breaking the world record at Senior Nationals in Des Moines, Iowa this year. No one in the history of this event at the age of 1012 has ever won gold in Discus, Long Jump, and Shot Put. At 102 years young-at-heart, God willing, Fay will continue to compete in all Senior Games in the coming year. Oriental Says Thank You, Fay! You are truly an inspiration to us all! This week Garland Fulcher is recognizing The Tim at the Oriental Deli and for again having the 4th annual Station 19 Fundraiser for the Southeastern Pamlico Volunteer Fire Department on Sept 15 from 5-7 pm with live music, dogs, hamburgers at 807 Broad Street in Oriental. Come and meet our local Station 19 Fire Department and enjoy food on the patio or get it to go. Thanks for supporting this fundraiser. If you can't attend Deli is still accepting donations as well - if you can't make it when you are in Deli drop off a donation for this great cause. This fundraiser will help raise funds for protective equipment for our firemen and funding cancer prevention. We again thank our customers and hope to see you again this weekend. Of the 2,977 victims killed in the September 11 attacks: 343 Firefighters (including a chaplain and two paramedics)
of the New York City Fire Department 37 Police Officers of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department 23 Police Officers of the New York City Police Department
8 Emergency medical technicians and paramedics from private emergency medical services 1 Patrolman of the New York Fire Patrol 75 Firehouses had at least one member killed. The FDNY also lost its department chief, first deputy commissioner, a marshal, a chaplain and other administrative personnel. The deathly after-effects of 9/11 for Firemen, EMS, Police Officers and Citizens because of World Trade Center related illnesses—mostly lung disease, cancer—are far MORE than the initial casualties on the day of 9/11.
