Our prayers continue to go out to our fellow South Carolinians and neighbors as they continue to deal with the flooding in their cities.
Thank you to Governor Nikki Haley, our Adjutant General Robert Livingston, and Richland County Council Chairman Torrey Rush for their leadership during this difficult disaster. We are at an incredible moment in the history of Columbia; a devastating event that has dramatically changed the lives of thousands of our citizens.
It's so important that we continue to work together closely with the primary purpose of preserving life and providing food and shelter as we begin to assess our infrastructure and start the recovery process. This level of communication and collaboration is something I believe will go down in the history books as worthy of the people of South Carolina.
The National Guard has been exceptional. Emergency Management has done a great job coordinating everything. The incredible first responders all across this city and state, and the folks from other states who came to help, deserve our highest level of esteem.
As we go out about our daily lives, this is another opportunity to thank all our men and women in uniform and our public servants for keeping us safe and secure every single day.
