Having served as a steady bridge between residents and city government during his tenure, Sauve’s absence will be felt by the whole community. While his departure is due to unrelated reasons, the timing comes as City Hall faces one of its biggest controversies yet.

Three people have drowned in Beaufort County waters over a week, prompting warnings from local law enforcement and beach officials during the busy summer season.

Beachgoers are urged to check local surf conditions, follow posted signage and flag systems, swim only in designated areas, and avoid entering the water alone or during rough surf conditions. Rip currents remain one of the most dangerous and often underestimated threats to swimmers, even those who are well experienced.
