Closet Reset 🌱

This closet project is proof that you don’t need an entire weekend, a carload of bins, or a big budget to get organized. This project was finished in about 30 minutes♥️.

Sometimes, the best place to start is simply by working with the time, space, and products you already have. A little decluttering, some thoughtful rearranging, and a few simple systems can make a big difference🏡.

You don’t have to do it all at once—you just have to start.

Back-to-School Organization: Create Systems That Actually Stick ✏️📓

The new school year brings ALL the things… backpacks, homework, permission slips, school papers, sports schedules, artwork, lunch boxes, and so much more.

One of the best ways to keep the chaos under control is to create simple systems BEFORE the papers and stuff start piling up.

Here are a few of my favorite back-to-school organization tips:

📌 Create a “School Papers” Drop Zone

Choose ONE spot where everything coming home from school goes. A basket, wall file, or designated spot on the counter works great. The key is making sure everyone knows: this is where school papers go.

📌Deal With Papers Quickly

Try a simple system: Keep • Act • Recycle

✔️ Keep important papers

📅 Act on anything requiring a signature/payment/response asap

🗑️ Recycle the rest

The goal is to avoid creating a giant “I’ll deal with it later” pile.

📌Have a Homework Station

It doesn’t have to be fancy! A small area with pencils, paper, chargers, calculators, and whatever your kids regularly need can make homework time so much easier. Bonus points if it’s close to where they already like to work.

📌Give Backpacks a Home

A hook, cubby, basket, or designated chair can work! The important part is creating a consistent landing spot so backpacks don’t end up on the floor, kitchen table, or couch.

📌Create a Family Command Center

Keep the things everyone needs to reference in one place—school calendars, sports schedules, important dates, invitations, and upcoming events. One centralized spot can save SO many “Mom, when is…?” questions!

The best organizing system is the one your family will actually USE.
It doesn’t need to be Pinterest-perfect. It just needs to make your everyday life a little easier.

These weren’t major overhauls, just quick transformations that turned chaos to calm in each space.

Organizing isn’t always about making everything look perfect. It’s about creating systems that make everyday life easier.

If you have a countertop, kitchen island, or bar area that’s constantly covered in mail, kids’ toys, papers, and random clutter… this one’s for you🌱🏡

Clutter is usually a sign that a system is missing—not that you’re lazy or disorganized.

Before you start tossing things into baskets, ask yourself:
• Why does everything end up here?
• Does each item have a designated home?
• Is this space trying to do too many jobs?

Here are a few simple ways to make this area easier to maintain:

✔️ Create an inbox or mail tray for incoming papers.
✔️ Keep a small basket for items that belong in other rooms.
✔️ Give keys, wallets, and sunglasses a designated landing spot.
✔️ Do a quick 5-minute reset before bed each evening.
✔️ Keep the countertop as clear as possible so it’s less likely to become a catch-all.

A question I often ask my clients-

“If this countertop stayed completely clear for the next month, where would each of these items naturally go instead?”

The answer almost always reveals the system that’s missing.

Remember—getting organized isn’t about creating a Pinterest-perfect home. It’s about creating systems that make your everyday life a little easier🏡.
