Congratulations to Linda Knox who won a multi-signed copy of "Forged in Steel" yesterday at the First Annual Pasta & Wine event to raise funds for the Beaver County (PA) Foundation. This copy of the book was signed on the inaugural Steelers Cruise in 2014 by co-authors Tunch Ilkin and Damian Williams as well as legends HOF'er Donnie Shell, Andy Russell, Craig Wolfley, Dwayne Woodruff, Chris Hoke and J.T. Thomas as well as comedian Jim Krenn. Last year, the Foundation gave more than $70,000 in scholarships to 40 local students and invested in other important community growth initiatives. https://beavercountyfoundation.com/

There was no greater fan of "Forged in Steel" -- period -- than the late Craig Wolfley, the longtime Pittsburgh Steelers linemate, bestest friend and brother-in-Christ of our book's co-author Tunch Ilkin. There are many memories of Bro Wolf championing this unique work of authorship about the Steelers' time-tested way of leadership, including often on their 970 ESPN Radio show and a special two-part "Wolf's Den" podcast. Until we meet again, Wolf, rest in blessed peace. And thank you.

Today we join all of Steelers Nation in mourning the loss of former player and broadcaster Craig Wolfley. Craig contributed valuable stories for our book "Forged in Steel," co-authored by his greatest friend Tunch Ilkin and Damian Williams.

One of Wolfley's stories was about showering after a loss in Seattle, when he began mimicking head coach Chuck Noll: “Awww, I can hear it now,” Wolfley whined. “Back to basics, back to basics. We’re gonna have a killer practice, it is gonna be like camp.” Without being seen, Noll stepped into the shower, and began to listen to the diatribe. When Wolfley finally turned and spotted his coach, and without missing a beat, he added “…and I think that’s a great idea. We really need to get back to the basics.”

Craig Wolfley, a former Steelers guard for 10 seasons who later became a colorful and affable radio and TV personality, died Monday. He was 66. Wolfley...

In our book "Forged in Steel," co-authors Tunch Ilkin and Damian Williams write that mental toughness "is not just a matter of thinking positively, but practicing the ability to respond and move ahead, despite how they might feel in the moment, whether the setback was their own foolish fault or just an unlucky break. They know not to blame others for their circumstances, but instead focus attention on actions within their control that they could take to manage or solve the problem." https://www.amazon.com/Forged-Steel-Time-Tested-Leadership-Principles/dp/0983714940

A new book published last year, "With Justice for All: A Social History of Disability in America," by Jack Trammell, uses one of our books as source material to discuss Civil War soldiers with disabilities. The "Miner" to whom he refers is Ephraim Miner, of the 142nd Pennsylvania Infantry, whose wartime diaries were published in our 2011 title "Well At This Time." http://minerdpublishing.com/about_book.php

Minerd.com Publishing, LLC remembers this moment in 2013 at the Heinz History Center book fair when our "Forged in Steel" co-author Tunch Ilkin and fellow Pittsburgh Steelers hall of honor recipient Andy Russell shared the joy of their newly published works of authorship. Sadly, Andy died this past Leap Day, leaving behind a legacy of greatness on and off the field and the two Super Bowl rings he earned. https://www.amazon.com/Forged-Steel-Time-Tested-Leadership-Principles-ebook/dp/B00FOTBPXS/

We have always appreciated the editorial support of our "Forged in Steel" book provided by legendary Pittsburgh Post-Gazette sportswriter and radio talk show commentator Ron Cook. Ron's farewell column in yesterday's issue included five paragraphs of admiration for the book's co-author, the late Tunch Ilkin of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

There is a first and a last for everything, I guess. I have been writing this column for more than 34 years. I have never plagiarized. Until now. My friend...
