Introducing Mumbles, Matthew's good friend and stalwart companion in the battle against the Tree of Claws. Mumbles has a secret origin story, which will be published in a future Purple Sail Press volume.

The first thing I loved about "The Tree of Claws" is the way Matthew solves the problem of the titular villain. He does it without violence. He doesn't have to hurt anyone. In the face of a mean, vicious opponent, Matthew himself doesn't get mean.

And the story is still exciting, still engaging, still just fun to read. For kids and those grownups who haven't forgotten what it's like to be a kid.

In a world where people are becoming more divided, more angry, and more hostile, we need more stories like that.

I don't believe in nagging. On the other hand, there's the whole "squeaky wheel gets the grease" thing. So for the remainder of the Purple Sail Press Indiegogo campaign, expect to hear a lot from me!
