If you had told me a year ago that would be standing in front of a room of women launching her book Evolving You, I wouldn’t have been surprised because I’ve watched her pour her heart, wisdom, and lived experience into everything she does.

Almost two years ago, Alexus came to me as a client, and somewhere along the way, she became a lifelong friend and a force who’s helped me evolve just as much as I’ve watched her evolve. Watching her journey unfold has been one of the most beautiful experiences of my career.

I had the honor of writing the foreword, but truly, she’s the one who’s been writing this message her whole life. Seeing her officially bring it into the world and witnessing that launch surrounded by other incredible women was unforgettable.

This is a roadmap for women ready to step into their next chapter with courage and clarity.

If you’ve ever wondered what it looks like to evolve with grace and intention, Evolving You is proof. I’m so proud of her and so excited for everyone who will be impacted by her words.

A couple of years ago, and I met during a brand shoot and it was one of those instant connections where creativity and energy just clicked!

Fast forward to today, and it was such an honor to have her at my recent branding retreat not just attending, but photographing all the incredible women who joined us.

Jen typically spends her time running her two gorgeous studios (yes, two!), so the fact that she made the time to come out and shoot just for this retreat meant the world.⁣

We also got to spend more quality time together, and seeing her in her zone was a reminder of the power behind intentional brand photography.⁣

When I first got on the phone with she didn’t ask what do you want on the menu? She asked:
“How do you want your attendees to feel?”

That one question set the tone for everything we created together.

As two visionaries; one bringing the creative direction, the other bringing the artistry of food, we came together to design a 5-course dining experience that felt high-class and elegant.

We curated a brand story told through food.
Every bite reflected the essence of the retreat: elevated, feminine, curated.

And as powerful women in business, it’s so easy to stay in strategy mode and skip over the beauty of simply being present.

To not take the time, or feel worthy of a sensory experience like this. But this dinner reminded us that we deserve softness.
We deserve art.
We deserve to be poured into, too.

I’ve been nearly quiet on social media for the past month. Not out of burnout, but because I genuinely felt led to step back. Hosting a retreat in the middle of one of the most stretching seasons of my life required me to take the time I needed offline to really become present in the everyday.

It’s been refreshing to unplug for a bit to clear space. What unfolded over the past weekend was more powerful than I could have imagined. God showed up in big ways. So did an incredible group of women. There was peace, connection, inspiration, and a whole lot of quiet beauty.

I haven’t shared publicly about some of the things I’ve been walking through personally, and I may or may not ever share all the details. But I do know this: sometimes the quiet seasons are the most sacred.

I just want to honor the pause, and give thanks for the presence that met me in it. 🤍
