Seven family farms in the Radius Indiana Region were named Hoosier Homesteads. “Indiana is not a flyover state. I think it’s got a great story,” Jeff Kavanaugh said.

Seven family farms in the Radius Indiana Region were named Hoosier Homesteads. To earn the title, farms must be owned by the same family for over 100 consecutive years and be at least 20 acres. If it is smaller than that, the farm must produce more than $1,000 of agricultural products each year.

The 94-year-old state forest acquired new property, purchasing an inholding of 51 acres of land. The $270,000 buy was primarily obtained by funds from the President Benjamin Harrison Conservation Trust and the Indiana Natural Resources Foundation’s Indiana Tree Project.
