"The Block Party"
Saturday Evening: 9-12 Midnite
91.1 FM (WHFC) and whfc911.org
Host: Joyce Conroy

Wishing you a wonderful Labor Day weekend. I know this has been a very difficult few weeks both musically and spiritually losing more of the artists that we have followed and loved over the years.

Music is truly the healing force and I invite you to join me on "The Block Party".

Paying tribute to the lovely gal who did not consider herself a singer and she was not crazy about making records, but Shelley Fabares had a number 1 hit with "Johnny Angel". She not only dazzled us on record, but with her charming presence and talent on "The Donna Reed Show", "Coach", "One Day At a Time" and in film with Elvis and Herman's Hermits.

Hour Two - Ernie Cefalu and illustrator Carl Ramsey had to come up with a creative dazzle on a deadline for "Foghat". Ernie and I chat about the challenges he and Carl were facing with the design of Foghat's "Energized" LP and how they turned faded photos into a futuristic cover.

Hour Three - I conclude our salute to David Clayton-Thomas plus I catch up on some August birthdays that include Robert Plant, the late Sib Hashian of Boston and I include a preview of my upcoming tribute to Dolly Parton with a tip of the hat to Dolly's rock and roll flavored songs.

Wishing all of our students both young and young-at-heart a great year of learning at HCC. Because of your generous support, WHFC's learning lab continues to be a place where students can learn the art of communication which is a skill needed in today's world. My love to all of our students and community volunteers for your dedication here at WHFC. Visit whfc911.org and I invite you to make a donation to keep WHFC a vital source in the Harford County community and beyond. Thanks!!!
