Hi, ir's Joyce Conroy. Come join me tonight from 9-12 Midnight for "The Block Party" on 91.1 FM (WHFC) and on the net at whfc911.org.
We are celebrating the beautiful holiday season. Sadly, we lost Steve Cropper, Chubby Taveres and Phil Upchurch in a just matter of days. I promise a future salute on upcoming "Block Party" shows.
This weekend I celebrate more December birthdays that include Dennis Wilson of The Beach Boys, Little Richard (Hail, the Emancipator), John Densmore and Jim Morrison of the Doors, David Gates, two Freddie's of boundless energy although different first name spellings - Cannon and Garrity. Our Mystery Singer had aspirations in a challenging major back in college, but the music bug bit him and he ended up as a fab drummer in a respected band produced by Bones Howe.
Hour Two - Ernie Cefalu and I are touched by the response to our video featuring the lovely and talented singer-songwriter, Cheryl Ernst Wells. On Part One of our "Ernie's Corner" Spotlight, Cheryl let us in on what it was like to work with legendary producer Bones Howe on her album "Always Beginning". One of the questions that has been asked when hearing this lady of immense talent as to why her album "Always Beginning" did not receive the airplay that was deserved On Part 2, Cheryl relays what sadly happened in the music business back in the 70's and that she never went away.
Hour Three - More birthdays that include Eric Bloom of Blue Oyster Cult along with some holiday favorites to get us ready for our upcoming Christmas and Holiday show. P.S. We have two Tom's of immense talent on this Hour.
It is the spirit of giving that makes great things possible. Thank you for logging onto to whfc911.org to hear the many fine programs that are crafted to inform, entertain and to train. Your donation makes it possible to continue our mission. You are truly appreciated.
