Arsenal are facing an injury crisis of worrying proportions, with one midfielder ruled out until the end of the year with injury.

The Gunners slumped to their first league defeat of the season away at Newcastle United at the weekend, following a drab League Cup exit at the hands of West Ham United the previous week. Mikel Arteta was without a number of his key players, however, with club Martin Odegaard the latest to be left out of the lineup.

The Norwegian joined Jurrien Timber, Emile Smith Rowe, Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey on the treatment table – and now reports have suggested that one of those currently afflicted could be out for longer than thought.

President William Ruto has differed with National Treasury and Economic Planning CS Njuguna Ndung’u after he appointed more men than women to the Pending Bills Verification Committee.

Speaking on Tuesday during the launch of the Pending Bills Committee at State House, Nairobi, Ruto said the committee is unconstitutional.
He said that the CS should review the list of the committee by adding more women or reducing the number of men to balance.

"I am not a very good mathematician but being a scientist I know something about math when I looked at the composition of the committee, it was clear to me that it was unconstitutional because it lacked gender balance, there were only four women out of a whole committee of 20," he said,

"I respectfully suggest to the minister, to either reduce the number of men or add the number of women so that it becomes constitution."

The President said that it is time Kenyans and leaders live according to the provisions of the constitution.

The Cabinet in June of this year approved the establishment of a special committee on pending bills.

The Pending Bills Verification Committee is tasked with the auditing of liabilities for the period between 2005 and 2022.
The committee will consist of the Attorney General, the State Department of Roads, the State Department of Public Works, the State Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority.
Others include the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, the Law Society of Kenya.

As the heavy rains have been pounding parts of the country, the roads are expected to be the saving grace to help Kenyans seek aid.

However, the newly-tarmacked Garissa - Modogashe Road has become a point of ridicule as Kenyans question the workmanship that was put into the endeavour.

The road was initially impassable over the weekend due to the overflowing of the Koriale seasonal river.

Images shared online after the heavy downpour swept away parts of the road have irked Kenyans, with many claiming public resources went to waste for a sub-standard project.

Renowned politician and former Uasin Gishu County gubernatorial aspirant Zedekiah Bundotich Kiprop alias Buzeki, has now broken his silence after President William Ruto's government announced that Monday will be a public holiday.

In a statement on his X page through his social media platform, the firebrand politician condemned the move saying that it was ill advised considering that Ruto's government had lifted the ban that had been imposed on logging.

According to Buzeki, it doesn't make sense that the government is creating a holiday for planting trees and yet they themselves are creating space for deforestation through the lifting on the ban that had been imposed on logging.

"UDA approved the cutting of TREES recently and now they going ahead to gazette a HOLIDAY for tree PLANTING . Lack of adequate SLEEP can compromise the quality of decision making . Unfortunately, her six-month-old baby was among those who died in the accident that happened in the wee hours of the night involving a truck and a Nissan Matatu van.

Speaking to the press from her bed in Nakuru Level Five Hospital, Nyongesa, 21, did not know where her youngest baby was.

The other baby she was traveling with from Kitale in Trans Nzoia county survived the accident, too, and is hospitalised at the Nakuru Level Five Hospital.

It seems the Kenyan shilling is on a mission of being clobbered by the US Dollar, the British Pound, and the Euro, with little chance of defending itself. The local currency seems to have defied threats by the President who had ordered it to strengthen.

On Monday, the shilling kicked off the week by weakening by 0.04 percent against the US Dollar to close at 140.57 (-13.94 percent year-to-date). It was also clobbered by the Pound when it weakened by 0.66 percent to close at 178.44 (-20.19 percent year-to-date).

The local currency went ahead and weakened by 0.23 percent against the DEuro to close at 153.34 (-16.82 percent year-to-date).

On the Kenyan Stock Market, the total equity turnover rose by 27.68 percent to close at USD 1.11 MN (KES 155.72 MN) compared to Friday’s turnover of USD 0.87 MN (KES 121.96 MN).

NSE 20 and NASI rose by 0.59 percent and 0.74 percent to close at 1,584.28 and 107.79, respectively.
