Fallen officers honored

KALKASKA – Dozens bowed their heads and offered prayers during a solemn ceremony to honor five Michigan law enforcement officers who lost their lives last year serving the public.
The 30-minute ceremony on May 14 was hosted by Sheriff Pat Whiteford and attended by several members of his department, former law enforcement officers, elected officials and several members of the public. County Board Chair, Kohn Fisher, presented a proclamation to honor the occasion and Pastor William Kuiper offered an invocation and benediction.

Bellaire High School students visit Camp Grayling for National Guard experience

GRAYLING – This spring, on May 2, Bellaire High School Juniors and Seniors had the unique opportunity to travel to Camp Grayling in Northern Michigan to meet the Michigan National Guard.
The visit, organized to give students a firsthand look at life at Camp Grayling, highlighted the many opportunities the National Guard provides, especially with financial support for education and career development. During the visit, The recruiters for the Guard gave a detailed presentation on the various benefits of enlisting, including tuition assistance, job training, and leadership development.
