There have been multiple reports in our county and surrounding areas of people calling claiming to work for a law enforcement agency.

Remember we would never call and ask for any money or other form of payment. If you are unsure if the person calling you is law enforcement, hang up and the law enforcement agency they are claiming to be from.

Every day a motorist leaves their home it is a risk. They leave hoping other motorists are attentive, driving sober and have had plenty of sleep. Please do not drive sleepy or after consuming alcohol or drugs that impair your ability to drive. Call or ask for help! If you find yourself having to be out late tonight please drive with awareness, put the phone down, and be ready for anything at any time. Happy New Year to all! Be safe and responsible!

The Sumner County Commission has voted unanimously to not allow NextEra Energy to build their Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) near Oxford.

More than 120 people attended the meeting today at Raymond Frye in Wellington, many of them to oppose the facility. NextEra representatives were on hand to present their case and rebutted citizen's concerns before the commissioners voted.

Don’t forget that the store will be closed until January 5th. Personally taking a few days off for myself to recharge and then I will be doing inventory of the store until we open again.

24 Kansas state parks will be offering free guided hikes on New Year's Day as part of the 14th annual First Day Hikes. There may be a vehicle fee for entering the park.
